Thousands of years ago, a girl name Ymir made a deal with the devil. This deal gifted her a power that would start centuries long conflict. This power, was the power of the Titans. She became the Founding Titan. Her ability allowed her to turn herself into a large humanoid being a will. She was used as a weapon and bared the children of the king.

Though after thirteen long years of fighting, her life came to an end. Her power was passed down to her three daughters who were forced to eat her corpse. The ability eventually split into the nine Titans known today. The Founding, The Colossal, The Armoured, The Beast, The Jaw, The Cart, The Attack, and The War Hammer Titan. Though somewhere along the line, a genetic mutation of that DNA caused a new family to gain the power ability. But it was something very different. Something they called, The Fate.

This ability could not be taken from the user, only passed down through childbirth, keeping it in the family. Each user had something different, some of them having more than one ability. But just like the thirteen year curse of the Titans, this one had a curse also. Each user would face an excruciating death before they reach thirty.

Not all the abilities were useful in battle, those users were forced to use there life to bare/ have as many kids as they possibly could to create a user who was valuable, causing years of build up generational abuse. Those who had useful battle abilities were worked to the bone, some of which killed themselves because they couldn't handle it, especially the users with more than one ability. Users with more than one ability are seen as highly valuable, but tend to have a more excruciating death or go insane much quicker than normal. Though, sometimes the ability skipped a generation, leaving some people in the family with nothing, or comes late into the users life.

By the end, Eldia had no enemies and eventually turned on themselves, causing The Great Titan war. Though, one king decided to no longer take part in this war and fled with the Eldian peoples. But some were left behind in a place called Marley. Marley managed to take seven of the nine Titans and The Fate. The Founding being lost with the Eldian's who fled. The Eldian people, the ones who were left behind in Marley, were ridiculed and forced to bare the power of The Titans for battle purposes. This created the Warrior Unit. 

People who disobeyed the Marleyan Empire were sent to "Heaven". They were injected with Pure Titan Fluid and dropped off a large wall, cursed to live as a mindless, man-eating titan for the rest of their days...

But all of this formed a system in their society, something that would one day...collapse.
