"And then he got so mad he accidentally splashed water on himself and spent the whole afternoon short-circuiting" the two of us laughed and joked together like old friends. It felt weird but a good weird.

"This manchild is the one you're taking orders from?" Alastor chuckled

"I know, what a fucking joke-"

"Luci!" I was cut off by vaggie hugging me "I am so sorry. I promise I will never ever ever-"

"Vaggie" I stopped her halfway through her speech "I'm fine. Thank you for caring about me" I stroked her hair.

"Oh Luci" she cried against my chest. I rocked her against me with a smile. She's a good kid. My daughter couldn't have found anyone better.

She pulled away with a smile "oh now if you'll excuse me I have to write an exercise on bonderies" her eyes twinkled as she ran upstairs, getting replaced by Charlie.

"Dad" her eyes held so much pain. I felt a mix and self hatred before alastor placed a hand on my shoulder, calming me.

"Charlie I'm ok-"

"Please don't lie to me" she shook her head tearfully.

I sighed "I know it looks bad but I have my reasons for staying. I'm sorry but I can't explain why"

"I understand but you know you can trust me dad" she took my hand "I love you so much and it breaks my heart to think of that monster hurting you"

"I love you too baby girl" I touched her face as tears rolled down my face "I don't know what I did to deserve such an amazing kid"

Alastor smiled softly "how about I pour you both a drink"

"You read my mind al" I smiled.

"Oh? No doe eyes or any other asinine nicknames?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Nah. Al suits you better" I winked at him.

"That it does" he chuckled as he walked to the bar. Charlie took my hand as she led me to the bar. I felt myself smiling genuinely for once.

I think I'm glad they found me.
