Jennifer's POV:
I was standing near a window, enveloped by the embrace of darkness, lost in my own thoughts. When the cool breeze hit my face, I closed my eyes. A tear slips from my eye, tracing a silent path down my cheek, Turbulent feelings consuming me.
Suddenly, a scream reached my ear. I startled.
"Why weren't you responding? I've been hollering at you for a whole hour."
Daisy was screaming, clearly irritated that why I wasn't paying attention.
I glanced at her, yet remained silent, offering no response. Afterwards, I averted my gaze, seeking to disengage from the situation.
Daisy approached me and placed her hand on my shoulder.
"Why can't you let go of him? Try to understand that he's gone. He's not coming back. How many tears will you shed for him?"
She inquired, her voice filled with emotion.
"How could he have forgotten his promise? Why he assured me that he will come?"
Amidst tears, I uttered.
"Daisy, it's been 10 years. I'm still waiting for him, hoping that one day he might come."
With trembling hands, I wiped my tears, paused and inhaled deeply.
She looked at me with tear filled eyes, and embraced me in a tight hug. If only, hugs could heal everything.
"Please don't cry, everything's gonna be alright, whatever the future holds will be good for you."
Her consolling words did little to the wound that has been opened for years. Daisy grasped my hand firmly and led me to the bed.
"Come let's sleep, you have an interview tomorrow for the company you have been eagerly anticipating."
I wrapped myself into the blanket, squeezing it tightly.
Lost in the timeless void, memories echo in the hollow chambers of my mind. Each tick of the clock, a reminder of moments slipping through my grasp. I drifted off into sleep, unaware of passing time, yet the old empty feeling lingered in my heart.--------×--------
Standing near my car, I was looking at the "SY marketing" building looming before me, unaware of what lies ahead.
I was wearing a well tailored pencil skirt, paired with a matching blazer and closed toe pumps in a coordinating color. My hair was tied in a high ponytail. A structured leather tote bag to carry essential documents and accessories with ease.
I entered the lavish building, watching the people hustle and bustle, running here and there to get their work done. I went straight to my destination, obviously, after asking for directions. There were so many candidates.
I sat on the chair and was waiting for my turn, surrounded by the murmurs of other candidates echoing in the room.
A man, who was sitting in front of me, was watching me continuously like he's trying to recognize me. I averted my gaze momentarily. However, when I glanced back at him, I noticed he was still observing me intently.
He stood up from his chair and approached me. I observed his every move, as he extended his hand for a handshake.
"Hey!"
He said with a wide smile.
"This is Jake from the "AJ enterprises". We are also in search of a talented employee. Could you please show me your CV?"
With wide opened eyes, I stared at him in deep shock.
AJ enterprises was the leading company in NewYork, known for hiring highly professional employees with years of experience.
