Jennifer's POV:

It felt like I'd lost my breath, after all these years seeing his name on my phone screen was truly unbelievable. My body went numb and my brain stopped working. It was as if the rug had been pulled out from under me.

Daisy's gaze was fixed on me and her mouth wide open.

"What are you saying, Aaron?"

I didn't reply. She picked the phone up and read the message,

"ANGEL, meet me at the park where we used to meet. I will be waiting in the evening."

I looked at her face, bewildered, not believing a single word. My tongue betrayed me, I tried to say something, but no word escaped from my mouth.

She placed a comforting hand on my shoulder.

"Are you listening? He wants to meet you. Finally, after all these years, at least he remembered you. You should go and meet him. Let's find out what he wants to say."

"I can't. I don't have the courage to see him, it's like all the strength is drained from my body," I said, my voice breaking.

I closed my eyes and leaned back on the couch with a soft thud, tears flowing freely from my eyes. Daisy went into the kitchen and brought a glass of water.

"Come on, drink this," she said. I took a sip and placed it on the table.

"Let's go together. We have to find out what he's gonna say, what he will come up with."

------------

It was 6 in the evening, and the passage of time seemed surreal. After receiving his message, each second dragged on like an eternity. Daisy locked the door behind us as we went to the car. I sank into the passenger seat while Daisy took the wheel, her hands trembling slightly as she started the engine. With a quick pull away from the curb, we merged onto the road. Daisy's foot pressed firmly on the accelerator, the car speeding forward while my mind churned with anticipation and anxiety.

Finally, the moment I had been dreading and longing for, meeting him face-to-face. What would he say? Why had he been silent for so long? Did he move on and that's why he called me so he could tell me? These questions flooded my mind.

Lost in thought, I barely noticed the familiar landmarks passing by as we neared our destination. The streetlights flickered on, casting fleeting shadows across my face as we arrived, Daisy expertly navigating to a stop. It was then that I realized we had reached the place where everything would be revealed.

The familiar park bench stood under the soft glow of the streetlamp, casting a gentle light on the surrounding trees swaying in the evening breeze. This was the exact spot where we had last met, where our relationship had been torn apart.

The memories flooded back, the heartfelt conversations, and ultimately, the heartbreaking farewell.

She emerged from the car and opened my door with a reassuring smile.

"Come on, let's go," she urged softly. "Come on, Jenny. Build up some courage. You can do this." I stepped out of the car and she locked it behind us.

Together, we ventured into the park, the familiar path winding ahead of us.

As we walked, every step seemed to stir up memories buried deep within me. The park's peaceful atmosphere contrasted sharply with the turmoil in my mind. I recalled the laughter we shared under these very trees, the moments of joy, and also the painful farewell that tore us apart. Each bench, each tree seemed to hold a story, the story of our love and his betrayal.

A story of moments shared and dreams woven together, but now tainted by the painful memory of his betrayal. As I walked through the park, the rustling leaves and distant chirping of birds echoed the turmoil within me, each familiar sight now a reminder of shattered trust and unfulfilled promises, leaving hearts longing.

We looked everywhere, but he was not anywhere.

Daisy, tap my shoulder. "Look, maybe he is coming," I looked in that direction, staring intently and observing.

A man was heading towards us. He was wearing black pants and a blue t-shirt with a cap on his head.

When he came near, he walked past us.

"When will this man come?" Daisy said frustratingly. "Call him. Let's see where he is."

I dialed his number. I had never deleted his number in the hope that he may call one day. First, the bell rang. No one received the call. When I called again, the number went off. After watching my shocked expression, Daisy asked, "What happened?"

"Firstly, he didn't attend the call. And now, his phone is switched off. He ran away like he did."

A piece of hope that developed in me is now shattered into pieces.

"Maybe he ran out of the battery let's search the park."

"If he wanted to come, he would have."

"Let's try for the last time," she said.

And then we went and searched all over the park, observed every single person. But no one seemed like him.

"He is not there. Let's go back, It's already 11. He will not come It's clear. Let's go home," I said, disappointment evident in my tone. We reached our car and headed home.

I can't understand what games this man is playing with me or what he wants from me. When I tried to move on after so long, he came back into my life and made everything a mess again. His actions are confusing and disruptive, leaving me unsure of his true intentions.
