Jennifer's POV....
I was sitting in the office, my thoughts wandering back to Olivia's conversation. The pen was swirling absently between my fingers as I tried to focus on my work. The air conditioner seemed not to be working, perhaps, it was just the weight of the depression I was feeling that made the room seem suffocating. I leaned back in my chair, the leather creaking softly, and closed my eyes, hoping to find a little comfort.
The distant sounds of the office buzzed in the background as I began to swing gently in my chair. My mind was a whirl of worries and fragmented thoughts, the heavy fog clouded my concentration.
Suddenly, the door swung open with a loud creak, and Olivia burst in with an energy that shattered the silence. I flinched and snapped my eyes open. She stood there, framed in the doorway, With both hands firmly planted on her waist, she stood straight and tall, her eyes fixed on me.
"Great, you’re resting here and the meeting is about to start."
I didn’t respond, just looked at her face, thinking how someone could stoop so low. Her eyes were blazing with annoyance, and the corners of her mouth were turned down in a disapproving frown. I was lost in my own thoughts, the noise of the office fading into the background.
Suddenly, she slammed her hand on the table, the sound echoing in the small room and cutting through the haze of my thoughts.
"I’m talking to you, miss."
"Huh? Were you saying something?" I replied, snapping back to reality.
"Oh come on, you didn’t even hear a single word. Where were you lost?" she demanded, her eyes narrowing.
"Nothing special," I muttered.
"Go and give the file to Anton. The meeting is about to start, he’s waiting. And don’t give the wrong file like you did last time."
"I didn’t give the wrong file. Somebody had changed it," I said, looking sharply into her eyes. I saw a mischievous smile flash across her face, vanishing as quickly as it appeared.
"Probably," she said, a hint of sarcasm in her voice.
It seemed clear from her reaction that she had been the one to change the file that day. I took the file and went out of the office.

As I approached Mr. Vinson's office, he was preparing to leave, likely heading towards the meeting room. With determined steps, I closed the distance and extended my hand to offer him the file, observing as he precisely buttoned his coat. His sharp gaze shifted from the file to lock onto mine, his eyes a striking shade of icy blue that seemed to hold a world of their own.
Caught in the intensity of his gaze, I found myself momentarily captivated. His presence was commanding, his demeanor composed and confident. Without averting his eyes, he reached out to take the file, his hand moving with deliberate grace. Unconsciously his hand closed around my wrist instead.
For a brief moment, we both paused, our hands connected unexpectedly. He glanced down at his hand, which was enveloping my wrist. Then, lifting his gaze back to mine, his expression softened slightly.
In a swift and unexpected move, he tightly tugged on my wrist, pulling me closer to him. Startled by the sudden proximity, I stumbled forward and collided into his chest, causing the file to slip from my grasp and tumble to the floor with a soft thud.
Our eyes met, and in that instant, a profound connection sparked between us. As we stood there, captivated by each other's gaze, it felt as though time had paused.
He placed his hand gently on my waist, his touch electrifying. With his other hand, he delicately tucked a strand of hair behind my ear, which was dancing freely on my face. His fingers then traced my chin, his gaze unwavering and intense.
Instantly, a piercing scream echoed through the hallway, breaking our moment. We both startled,
"We are running late for the crucial meeting, come on hurry up!"
As I turned around, I saw Olivia standing there, looking annoyed. Shortly after, Mr. Vinson left the office to attend the meeting. It was then that I realized he had forgotten the meeting file. I quickly grabbed it and hurried towards him, Olivia almost snatched the file from my hand, her annoyance evident.
"Don't worry, I'll give it to him," she said abruptly. I stood there, stunned by her behavior, watching her until she disappeared from view.

I was lounging on the couch with Daisy. Instantaneously, a message tone chimed. Startled, I reached for my phone resting on the table.
As I glanced at the screen, a surge of emotions swept over me when I saw the name displayed. My heart skipped a beat, and my hands trembled uncontrollably. The phone slipped from my grasp and fell on the floor.
"Who's there?" Daisy asked, noticing my reaction.
"A-A... AARON," I managed to stutter, my voice barely audible amidst the rush of emotions. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the screen, where his name still glowed brightly, filling me with a flood of memories and unanswered questions.

Until then....
