Jennifer's POV:

He abruptly broke the hug and took a step forward without looking back. "What's wrong with you?" I asked, grabbing his arm tightly as I moved in front of him. My expression turned to astonishment. My mouth was wide open, and I was in deep shock.

I loosened my grip and removed my hand from his arm. His gaze locked deeply into mine, demeanor was cold and his eyes seemed to pierce through me, sharply.

I was utterly shocked, standing there in disbelief, trying to grasp how this could have happened. Questions flooded my mind: How had I lost control and embraced him? The memory replayed vividly, each detail magnified in my bewildered thoughts. It felt surreal, as if I had momentarily lost touch with reality, swept away by emotions I couldn't quite explain. I was feeling so embarrassed.

"I... I'm sorry," I said, turning away without looking at him. When I glanced towards where the car had been, it wasn't there. Fumbling for my phone in my bag, I called Daisy. After two rings, she picked up.

"Where are you?" I asked urgently.

"At home," she replied casually, as if it were no big deal. "Why?"

"Why didn't you tell me and just left me here?" I exclaimed, frustration creeping into my voice. "How am I supposed to get home?"

"Well, when I came out, you were so caught up in your romance," she said casually. "I didn't want to disturb you, so I left. Jake said he would text Mr. Vinson, and he will drop you."

"Jake?" I repeated incredulously. "You mean Jake saw me with Mr. Vinson too? I... I'm so embarrassed," I stuttered, feeling my cheeks flush red with guilt.

"Yeah, we caught your movie moment and then decided to head out together. You're going to ride back with your hero, so no worries."

"You're unbelievable!" I snapped. "You should have asked me before just leaving!"

"I told you, I didn't want to ruin your intense moment."

"Let me come home, I'll sort this out with you."

"Sure, sure," she teased. "Now go, Your sweetheart is waiting for you."

She laughed playfully before hanging up, leaving me standing there, unsure of what to do next.

Feeling too embarrassed to ask him for a ride, I couldn't bring myself to turn around and meet his gaze or even look at his face. The weight of guilt hung heavy on my shoulders as I stood there enveloped in the chain of thoughts. Suddenly, Mr. Vinson approached from behind.

"Let's go. I'll drop you home."

Avoiding his eyes, I hesitated before murmuring, "I'll take a cab, don't you worry, I'll manage."

"You won't easily find a cab at this hour. Come with me," he said coldly, leading the way to his car. He opened the door and settled into the driver's seat, watching me intently through the front window.

I stood there for a moment, nerves trembling, before finally gathering the courage to approach the car. With trembling hands, I opened the passenger door and sank into the seat beside him.

The engine purred to life as Mr. Vinson started the car. Soft, soothing music filled the interior, creating a calming atmosphere despite the tension.

Throughout the journey, neither of us spoke. The silence between us was palpable, filled only by the gentle hum of the engine and the melody softly playing in the background. Eventually, we reached home.

I opened the car door, preparing to step out. Before leaving, I gathered the courage to explain myself, I took a deep sigh, turned towards him and without looking into his eyes I said,

"What I did was because I thought you were someone else. That's why I acted the way I did. I'm really embarrassed about this. I hope you understand. I am really sorry." He simply nodded without saying a word, his gaze was fixed ahead, he never looked in my direction. His expression unreadable as always.

I exited the car and closed the door behind me. He swiftly reversed, speeding away as if he were angry about something. I watched his car until it disappeared from view and lost in the storm of dust kicked up by his speed.

I was about to enter my office when I heard Olivia's voice. She was talking to someone, possibly on the phone, and I paused immediately. She was inside her office.

"I can't let her win. Not now, not ever, if she doesn't understand. I won't hesitate to kill her. I can't let this happen after all these years. I waited for so long. I won't let Anton do what he is trying to do. I've tried everything. I won't let anyone ruin my life. I made him Anton Vinson, and everyone knows this truth."

I was shocked to hear this, I never thought she could be like this. I was utterly lost, my mind swirling with a flood of questions. Nothing made sense, and confusion gripped me completely.

What was she talking about? How does she know Mr. Vinson and how did she shape him into who he is now? And who is she talking about? Whom she wanna kill?

I was so lost in the series of thoughts. Suddenly, my gaze wandered and I noticed Mr. Vinson approaching in my direction. As saw him, I quickly headed towards my office, hoping to avoid being seen.
