Jennifer's POV:

As the car rapidly approached, I closed my eyes and started screaming out of fear.

I couldn't gasp for oxygen. My chest tightened, and panic set in as I struggled to draw in even a single breath. I couldn't breathe.

As I stood frozen in front of the speeding car, someone suddenly grabbed my hand and yanked me forcefully out of the way. In the same swift motion, he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me into a tight embrace. My screams echoed through the air, my body trembling with fear.

My hands were quivering rapidly as I hugged him back tightly. Despite the effort to relax and silence the screams, they continued to escape from my lips uncontrollably.

"Calm down. Nothing happened to you. I am here," he whispered reassuringly in my ear.

"I will not let anyone harm you." His voice was steady and soothing.

He gently placed a comforting hand on the back of my head, stroking my hair to calm me down. I could feel his heartbeat that was so loud, and slowly, my breathing began to become steady as his presence made me feel safe.

Then, I raised my eyes, and as I glanced upward, for the first time I saw worry in Mr Vinson's eyes. He was still holding me in his comforting embrace. Our eyes met, and in that moment, all the pain and fear seemed to vanish into thin air. It was as if we were the only two people in the entire world.

He attempted to release me, but I clung to him even tighter, and placed my head on his chest unwilling to let go of the sense of solace his embrace provided.

Sensing my need, he hugged me back again, his arms enveloped me in a warmth that made me feel like this was the safest place in the whole world.
In that moment, I knew that as long as I was in his embrace, nothing could harm me.

We remained motionless for some time, Feeling peace in his embrace. Eventually, I loosened my grip, and he released me. His hand gently caressed my cheek and place a gentle kiss on my forehead.

Slowly, he closed his eyes, and connected his forhead to mine. The sensation made me close my eyes as well. The only echo was our deep breaths travelling through the air.

"Don't worry, I am here. I am always here for you," he whispered, his words were so comforting, I wish that the moment would never end, and we stay like this for the eternity.

And to my disappointment, his phone started ringing. He reluctantly released me and moved aside to answer the call.

"Okay, and check the security camera footage to see who was in the parking lot and attempted to harm her,"
and then he abruptly ended the call before returning to me.

"What I did was for the sake of humanity. Don't get me wrong," he said blankly.

"Yeah, you can kiss anyone for the sake of humanity," I whispered slowly, my words laced with sarcasm and frustration. I turned away, unable to meet his gaze, feeling a mix of emotions swirling within me.

"I will drop you. My driver will bring your car," he stated firmly, the authority in his voice more like an order than a suggestion.

"No, I can't tolerate that much humanity, I will manage." I replied sarcastically, and took a step forward.

"Can't you listen in one go? Is it important to argue on every single topic?" he said, his frustration evident in the furrow of his brows and the tension in his jawline.

"I'm not arguing. When I said I can manage, it means I can manage. I'm not a child," I replied firmly.

He nodded his head slowly, while clenching his jaw. His expressions darkened and body stiffened as he remarked,

"I watched you a few minutes ago, how you manage things."

"Come, let's go," he urged, extending his hand towards me in a gesture of invitation.

"I'm not coming with you," I refused. With a determined stride, I turned away, intending to make my way to my car and leave.

But before I could take another step, he moved swiftly, catching up to me in an instant.

His hand closed around mine with a harsh grip, and with a sudden forceful push, he pinned me against his car, the impact jolting through me as my back collided with the cold metal surface.

"I'm not asking, do you get it?" he snapped his voice seething with anger, his words punctuated by breaks as he struggled to contain his frustration. The anger in his voice was palpable, each word dripping with venom.

"When I say you will come with me. Then you will come," he declared, his tone leaving no room for argument. His glare intensified, his narrowed eyes fixed on me with an intimidating intensity.

With firm steps, he marched towards the car door and forcefully opened it. "Sit," he commanded.

"I won't," I insisted, refusing to yield to his demands.

Instantly he lifted me up in his arms, effortlessly carrying me to the front seat of the car. With a loud and harsh slam, he closed the door behind me, his actions leaving no room for negotiation. He then made his way to the driver's seat, his expression stern as he prepared to drive.

I reached for the gate handle to open it, but before I could grasp it, he shouted,

"Don't you dare!" His sudden outburst sent a jolt through my body, causing me to freeze in place, startled by the intensity of his warning.

As the car hit the road, I found myself gazing out of the window, lost in my own thoughts. When I glanced at him, I noticed he was watching me through the rearview mirror. Our eyes met briefly, but as soon as he realized I was looking back at him, he averted his gaze.

I turned away and whispered to myself, "He might be planning how to torture me next."

"Did you say something?" he asked casually as he did nothing.

After we reached our destination and he stopped the car, I snapped out of my reverie when he sarcastically remarked,

"Want a lift in my arms again?"

I shot him a sharp look, narrowing my eyes in annoyance, before opening the door and stepping out. "Freak," I muttered under my breath as I made my way towards the building entrance.

Just as I was about to enter the building, my phone rang. It was Jake.

"I am texting you the address. Don't come to the office tomorrow, come here instead and inform everyone. There's something important to discuss," he said.

"Okay" I responded and dropped the call.
