Mingyu was sitting on the table, looking around the room as if he were assessing everything. I had my head hidden between my hands. Why would I even accept something like this? She seemed perfectly fine on her own, didn't need any help, and I'd surely be scorned.
I took a deep breath and lifted my head just as Mingyu jumped off the table and a heavy backpack fell in the spot where he had been.
Kim Jisoo was staring at me appraisingly.
"I might agree with what my uncle asked of you. But if you hurt her in any way, consider yourself a dead girl!" she spoke seriously, as if she were worthy of reverence.
"Honestly, with half the school threatening me, since most of our year are from your family, I don't even care about your threat," I shrugged.
Jisoo smirked, and Mingyu patted her shoulder, indicating the corner of the room. They weren't friends. They had never spoken before.
But at that moment, Jennie Kim walked into the room.
I hadn't seen her since that incident in the hallway, but she seemed much better in the past few days.
When she saw me in the front desk, the desk she used to sit alone was abandoned. She walked towards me and sat beside me. God help me!
I took a deep breath and opened the history book, preparing to doze off as soon as the teacher started talking. But the smile on her lips caught my attention. I looked to where she was looking and saw Park Soo Young entering the room. She looked like a whirlwind.
Soo Young was tall and had pink hair. Her body was well-toned and she seemed older than she really was. Her face was different, seductive, but it didn't catch my attention. Actually, it didn't catch the attention of almost anyone in our year. She was too forward.
But Jennie's smile was because she had sat next to Mingyu and was flirting with him while he completely ignored her.
Seriously, it was embarrassing for her, since he didn't even look in her direction. Then Mingyu simply grabbed his stuff, stood up, and loudly asked the teacher if he could sit next to Bambam. The teacher nodded, and so did Bambam, but that didn't sit well with him under the gaze of the other students. Jennie raised her eyebrows, as curious as the others. Was Kim Mingyu gay?
"No!" I whispered, looking back ahead. Jennie looked at me appraisingly. "Mingyu has moved past the phase of just hooking up with anyone, he wants a real girl now, he's much more mature than my parents I guess..." I grimaced, "Anyway, the girl for him has to be tough and stand up to him, but sensitive and delicate so he can comfort her too. Soo Young is not that type."
When I looked back at her, she frowned and didn't look at me anymore. Then a mischievous gleam passed through her eyes, and she looked ahead again.
"What were you thinking?" I suddenly asked, I knew she wouldn't answer me with words, but I knew she had thought of something mischievous, I just couldn't decipher what.
She looked at me as if I were nobody. Just anyone sitting beside her. And then she looked back at the history book, completely ignoring me.
The day went on like that. Before I could even think of packing my things and leaving the room, she had already disappeared. I followed her to the next class, since I had a class next to hers, but she didn't even look at me. I didn't exist for her the whole day, except for her interest in Mingyu. Was it because she exclusively liked boys? Then why did she hug me yesterday?
Jennie was sitting by the lake. The sun was setting. I sat down next to her, far enough away to not touch her even accidentally. She didn't look at me again, but as soon as I settled, she stood up.
