I was going to kill Sorn later for setting up that damn team meeting. And it had to be later because I was already half an hour late to meet Jennie at the library. Worst of all, when it came to my involvement with her, I never knew what to expect.

I knew I could decipher her looks, I knew her gestures told me everything I needed. I understood her like no one else did, but that was it. I couldn't read her thoughts or imagine what she'd think about my lateness.

"Hey, Manoban!" Sorn called me back.

When she wished me a Good Afternoon after the meeting, I was already running to the dorm, but now I forced myself to turn back.

"I know it's cool that you're getting to know Kim and hanging out with her, but your performance has dropped a lot in practice since you started that!" Sorn stopped right in front of me. "Being tamed by a girl has made you more uptight and serious in the game. When you were having more fun, you played better, laughed during the game, and that was your potential! I need the Manoban who was a good goalkeeper, not the uptight Manoban I've been seeing in recent practices!"

I nodded, looking at the ground. For some reason, I knew she was right. When I wasn't thinking about Jennie, I knew how to play, but when I thought about her, everything focused on her.

"There will be scouts at the next game. I recommended you and Mingyu to them! I hope you've improved by then! You'd make a great goalie for a team out there!"

She patted my shoulder and left me there. Mingyu approached cautiously and then pulled me by the sleeve to keep walking towards the castle.

"Sorn is right, I already warned you!" he shrugged.

"You encouraged me to help her!" I retorted. "And even you like Jennie, how can I leave her now?"

"I never said I like Kim!" he was sarcastic, and I smiled.

"Of course not, you like Somi!" I returned the sarcasm.

"Okay, I'm serious now!" Mingyu stopped and stared at me. "Jennie is nice, and I know you like her! But we need to balance this! You have to get back to playing well, thinking about her or not!"

"Okay, but how do I do that?" I sighed heavily.

"I don't know yet, but it has to be before the next game... honestly, I don't intend to be a star player for any team out there, it's up to you to decide what you want!" he put his hand on my shoulder. "Now go, explain to Jennie why you're late and improve your chemistry grade, or your dad will kill you!"

I nodded again and walked back to the castle. I entered the library and looked for her at the tables, spotting her fiery hair at the back table. She was reading a book and didn't even look up when I sat in front of her.

"Sorry!" I couldn't look at her; I was too worried about the team now.

I saw her chin lift, and I forced myself to look up at her. Her eyes were darker than usual, and she was angry with me, maybe because I was late, I don't know, but at the same time, she knew something was wrong with me because she frowned, trying to understand.

"What else should I study?" I asked, trying to divert her probing gaze from me.

She shook her head, started closing the books, stood up, and left me there alone.

I sighed and buried my head in my hands. What should I do with my life? Not just about her, but the career I intend to follow, the life I will lead outside here.

I guess I didn't want to think about it. Maybe not now, maybe never. I don't know. All I was sure of was that I had to do what I was going to do after leaving the library.
