I sat on the bed, looking around while Mingyu moved about the room, gathering all his things. I still couldn't believe he was leaving without me. It was different from everything we had envisioned for ourselves.

"Have you seen your grades yet?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.

"The principal said my grades will be released with everyone else's, even though I took the exams earlier!" he replied, turning to me with a serious expression.

When I used to say he was more mature than all of us, I think I was lying. He was a boy who thought before he acted, but now he truly was an adult. Older, more decisive. He no longer seemed like my friend, at least not the one I knew and grew up with.

"I thought of something... I think it would be nice..." He forced a smile, the first one since everything happened.

"What is it?" I smiled back and finally stood up. It was time for me to help him, even if it meant him leaving school forever.

"You and Jennie... Somi would also like you both to be Lana's godmothers!" He placed a hand on my shoulder, his face relaxing as he finally gave a genuine smile.

"I think that's fantastic!" I grinned. "I'd love to spoil her! And Jennie will be thrilled, you know that! But... Mingyu? What about Somi's parents? They were already making plans for Lana!"

"Lana will stay in the hospital for another month, they told me. She's too small and weak, but she'll get better. And when she's released, she'll come live with me, in the house I'm going to buy for us!" He resumed packing his things, seeming resigned and angry. "I've been saving money since I was a kid. I won't be able to buy a mansion like her parents' house, but I can buy our home, then I'll work and make a living. Lana will stay with me."

"You'll need help." I approached him and helped him close the suitcase bursting with gifts for Lana. "I can't be there all the time, neither can Jisoo. We don't even know where she is right now! Who will help you?"

"Don't worry." He smiled at me. "You've already done so much for me, and I know that when I need you, you'll be there... but I have to handle this on my own, it was bound to happen one day."

He pulled the suitcase effortlessly through the room and walked silently across the building. No one dared to speak as we passed by; they barely looked at us. Somehow, it affected everyone, hurt everyone, made them think about life.

"Hi Jennie," he smiled at the brunette waiting for us by the gate.

"My family is a bit difficult, but they'll accept anything you choose and be there to help you!" She gestured beyond the gate, where Bambam was waiting. "You can trust that Bambam knows Somi would never leave her daughter with anyone else but you!"

"Thank you." Mingyu nodded and hugged her tightly.

I thought Jennie wouldn't respond, but she not only hugged him back but also let a tear slip down her cheek. Mingyu didn't hug me, nor did he come close, just nodded as if to say, "I'm going home and I'll be back tomorrow." Then I watched him leave the school without looking back.

"We're alone now," I whispered as Jennie intertwined her hand with mine.

We walked back through the garden; a light rain started, but we didn't care about getting wet. We were cleansing our souls of everything that had happened in the last few days.

"Have you heard from Jisoo?" I asked as we climbed to the seventh floor.

The auditorium was our refuge, the corner just for us where we could think and cry in peace, calm down, smile. Do everything we couldn't do in public after everything that happened.
