✿ Jennie ✿
"I cannot do this."
Somi came back to me with her eyes filled with tears. Her shoulders rose and fell frantically as she tried to contain her sobs. I sighed and smiled calmly.
"Somi, this happens to every woman on this day," I said as I sat on the bed, ready to have a conversation full of advice, just like the one my mother had with me when it was my turn.
"No Jennie! I can't do this! I won't marry Mingyu!" she exclaimed as she removed the beautiful diamond tiara from her hair.
"And why is that?" Rosé leaned against the wall and crossed her arms.
"Because it's been five years! We're not the same anymore! I don't even know who I am!" Her tears finally flowed, streaming down her face.
"Som..." I knew this wouldn't end well.
"I'm right, aren't I?" she smiled sadly through her tears. "How can I get married like this? Without having lived the five years he did?"
"And your daughter? Doesn't she matter?" Rosé tried to argue. She knew as well as I did that once Somi decided on something, there was no changing her mind.
"I love her, but she'll understand..." Somi was interrupted by the sound of the door closing.
Rosé looked at me and took a deep breath. I just shook my head in resignation and left the room, heading down the stairs to the living room. Mingyu stood in the middle of the room with Lana in his arms. The little girl was crying.
"What happened?" Lisa approached me while taking a sip of whiskey.
"Somi. Capricious like always. Childish and Crazy."
"Anything else that starts with C?" Jisoo joked with a smile. "What did she do now?"
"Let's go, Daddy. Mommy doesn't want to live with us!" Lana said weakly, trying to control her tears.
"Calm down, my dear, Mommy will be down soon..." Mingyu wiped the girl's tears with his fingers.
"She doesn't love us!" Lana pulled away, her eyes full of sadness. "I heard her say she doesn't want to marry you, Daddy!"
Mingyu stopped breathing for a few seconds. I knew something like this would happen, and I feared it. Just when everything was falling into place.
"Lana... when did you hear this?" Mingyu swallowed hard.
"Just now," I answered. "Lana, my little angel, come here with your godmother!"
The little girl looked at me, still sad, but she walked calmly over to where I was. I knelt down to her level and smiled, caressing her face.
"Ryan is changing with Grandma. Can you go see how he is for me?" I asked with a big smile.
The little girl nodded and then went upstairs to the room where my mother and aunt were getting ready.
"What happened, Jennie?" Mingyu got straight to the point as soon as he saw Lana disappear from sight.
"What happened between you and Somi during these months she was recovering?" I replied with another question.
Lisa immediately understood and hid her laughter while taking another sip of whiskey. But even she wasn't prepared for the answer.
"Nothing happened," Luke said, running a hand through his hair, messing it up.
"You lived with my sister for six months and did nothing with her?" Jisoo spat out the whiskey she was about to drink.
"I was waiting for her timing," Mingyu sighed. "We didn't talk about it, and things got strange between us, so I decided to give it time."
