Chapter 10 - The New Kid

It's the first Monday of Term 2. Neither me nor Zane are looking forward to it, but Zane especially today.

"What's on today that's got you so annoyed?" I inquire.

"You'll just have to find out when we get there." He responds.

"Uh... Ok." I accept.

~~~Time Skip~~~

We get there and sit under the tree.

"I see your nails are still painted" I observe.

"Yeah, I liked them so much I wanted to see if I could get away with them at school." He shares.

"Good plan." I support. If this works... maybe I could wear some nail polish!

"Thanks." He responds.

*Bring Bring*

"Let's head to homeroom." He says as he grabs his bags. We get to homeroom to be greeted by the usual scenery. Except there's someone new, standing up the front of the class talking to the homeroom teacher. He wasn't here before. We sit down.

"Urgh, that's my reason for being off today" Zane pipes up gesturing towards the kid up the front. The kid turns to the class, and it hits me. IT'S VYLAD!

"Ok everyone, settle down. I know it's homeroom, but we have someone new today. Vylad Ro'meave... Wait does that mean you're...?" The teacher stands there in shock.

"Yes! The emo kid up in the back corner is my brother. Hi Zane!" Vylad chimes. Zane looks down and scoffs.

"Wow, I wouldn't have guessed that... Anyway everyone make our new student feel welcome." The teacher ends, sits back down to ignore us all as usual. Vylad then begins to walk over to our table.

"Hi brother! Hi (Y/N)!" Vylad beams.

"Hi, Vyl-" I get cut off.

"Leave us alone Vylad!" Zane snaps

"S-sorry Zane..." Vylad sulks then walks away. Leading him to Aphmau and Travis.

"Zane!" I complain.

"What!?" He exhaled.

"That wasn't a nice thing to do for your brother! wasn't he in middle school though?" I ponder.

"That's exactly what's so annoying, if he's such a prodigy he shouldn't need my help he can find his own way around. Making friends is as easy as cake for him anyway so I don't see any issue." He scoffs and turns his head. This must be what it's like to have siblings, huh? I look over to Vylad to see him already becoming friends with Aphmau and Travis. Zane does have a point, but that still wasn't nice.

"I'll be right back." I say to a sulky Zane now facing the corner with his arms crossed. I walk over to Vylad.

"Hey, Vylad!" I chime.

"Oh, H-hi (Y/N)." He cheers back.

"Don't worry about Zane, you can talk to me as much as you want! If you ever need anything I'm here to help!" I smile.

"Thanks, I just made some not alone buddies so I think I should be ok!" He beams at his new friends.

"Perfect! You've picked some good ones! They're really nice trust me!" I grin.

"Aww thanks (Y/N)!" Aphmau gushes.

"T-thanks (Y/N)." Travis cheers.

"I'll have to see you guys around; I should probably get back to Zane." I wave bye then turn to him to see him in the same position I left him. I sigh. Then walk back over.

"Hello again, Mr pouty emo." I jest. He turns around and looks at me then huffs.

"I-I wasn't pouting I was inspecting the wall for mould." He prattles.

"Sure, sure. You going to talk to your brother?" I suggest.

"No." He argues.

"Oh, please just a simple hello will do." I beg.

"FINE" He complains. He gets up and walks over. Says something simple to Vylad and I watch as his mood boosts instantly. Zane then walks back and sits down.

"See, not that hard." I remark.

"*Huff* ok, it was fine... Anyway, what do you have today?" He asks. As our conversation leads into the usual.
