Well, thank fuck the contract has been fulfilled, what with the Britpop Times interview done and no current musical obligations. I've yet to ask Maryanne what she's got in the works, as I know I'd now got some ideas for a virtual band to be called Gorillaz. My mate Jamie Hewlett was going to come on board as illustrator. I'd decided to branch out from the house studio and grow with more equipment and work spaces. I'm especially interested to see how successful Gorillaz could be as the sound I've envisioned will be very different to what people know me for with Blur.
This was to be carried out at a wonderful studio space called Studio 13 in Latimer Road not too far from our apartment. It would be ideal really for using the latest equipment, bringing collaborating artists in and a great work space for Jamie to carry out his illustrations ideas. If all goes well, perhaps even Blur could work at the studio too. I'm determined to make it as comfortable and accessible as possible.
Mare can come and use the facilities for her recordings too. I haven't proposed the idea to her yet but I'd happily work alongside her and produce her next record.
Now we're free from the contract, there's no time constraints and finally we can relax and go abroad on holiday just me and her. Then slowly ease our way back into working life. Either way, I'm with my best friend so as long as she's by my side we can do anything.
