Maryanne POV
We watched Damon leave the room and Justine turned in her seat where Damon's space was between us and said "Damon's really taken to you, and I can just tell you're going to smash the tour..so it's great to finally put a name to face." Justine spoke kindly and said "excuse me, just going to freshen up, be back in a minute". I smiled and downed my glass of wine that I'd poured. Strong stuff but nice.
Damon returned and sat down, he looked perked up that's for sure and though I could tell he was feeling rather merry had now taken on a more confident vibe.
"Hey darling, you look amazing," he semi-slurred and kissed me just on the corner of my mouth but seemed slightly shocked by his own actions as he pulled away. "Hi Damon, as do you", I was still feeling the calming effects of the alcohol but was well aware of my actions, and because of this I wasn't sure whether it was because he was buzzed up or what, but he shouldn't really be saying these things or acting like this especially with his girlfriend here too?
"Justine seems nice, I didn't know you had a girlfriend..not that it matters but you'd never mentioned anything at all about her...." I trailed off, Damon gave a small guilty smile. "It's a bit of a mess at the moment so didn't really want to go into it but we'll see what happens especially once touring starts." This obviously had an effect on him as he couldn't really make eye contact with me as he said it and looked at my knee.
He then rested his hand on my knee which was hidden by the table cloth draped over the edge "....we'll see....". I looked up with a questioning glance, but I think deep down I knew..
Something was growing and I'm not sure we knew how to stop it.
