Hiraeth Davenport

It only took one knock on the door for Wynn to open it for us. "Finally! What the hell took you so long?" Wynn asked. I looked over her outfit in utter confusion. Her hair was thrown into a messy bun and she wore a graphic t-shirt with blue boxers. I was ninety percent sure that she didn't own those clothes.

"You live very far," Jamie said.

"Where's my cookie?" Wynn held out her hand.

"Where's the pizza?" Jamie asked.

Wynn stepped to the side to let us in, but she moved back into the doorway when she saw Malakai. Malakai didn't seem too happy to see Wynn either. "Oh, I didn't know you were coming."

"I told you that in the text..." My voice trailed off once Wynn sent me a silencing glare. But it was true, I told her that all of us were coming over twenty minutes before we arrived because Jamie had forgotten to. Wynn didn't have any problems before then.

Malakai plastered a smile on her face. "I hope I'm not intruding or anything."

"Not at all. But I was in the mood for a little girl's night." Wynn said. I looked at Jamie in confusion but she seemed even more confused than I was.

Malakai's head cocked to the side and she fiddled with the necklace that hung between her breasts. I shifted all my weight as I crossed one leg before the other. "Oh, so you're actually hanging out with girls? I thought you liked hanging out with boys more."

"That couldn't possibly be true, Hiraeth's my best friend after all." Wynn's eyes briefly darted to me. I wanted to punch Wynn for dragging me into some random ass drama.

"Oh... right. I guess I forgot because she never mentions you." Malakai said. Jamie let out a loud giggle before clearing her throat. I resisted the urge to smack Jamie in the back of her head. Wynn glared at Malakai, not speaking. "That's a nice shirt."

"I would say thank you, but it's hard to tell if you're being sincere," Wynn said through gritted teeth.

Jamie pulled me to the side a bit. "Should we stop this little catfight before it escalates?"

"If they argue long enough we can figure out what it's about." I shook my head, I wanted to know why they were fighting. And what I could say to remedy the situation.

"No seriously, it's a lovely shirt. Where'd you get it from? It looks very familiar." Malakai asked.

"A friend gave it to me," Wynn smirked.

"A friend? Is that what he calls you?" Malakai laughed. Wynn crossed her arms and set her jaw. It was clear that she was losing in whatever petty argument these girls were having.

"He?" Jamie asked.

"I think they're fighting about a guy." I groaned. Everything was always about a guy with those two.

Jamie shook her head and pulled out her phone. She typed something and after she was done I received a text in the group chat for me, Wynn, and Jamie.

Sis: Oh my Heavens. Save WW3 for later Wynn.

Wynn's phone buzzed but she didn't even bother to look at it. So I decided to step in before Wynn decided to swing on Malakai. "Am I the only one who's starving?"

"I'm famished." Wynn didn't even spare me a glance. Instead, she kept glaring at Malakai who didn't seem as irritated as Wynn was. Rather, Malakai, looked like she was having fun pushing Wynn's buttons.

I grabbed Malakai's hand. I tried not to think about how soft and nice her hand felt. For some reason, it made my stomach feel funny. "I'm famished, as well. So let us in." I didn't plan on going in if Malakai couldn't.

Wynn muttered something under her breath but stepped aside. "There's pizza on the counter."

"Your house is nice." Jamie complimented. I looked around as well, it was rare that Wynn invited me over.

"Thank you. My parents aren't home so help yourselves to anything." Wynn offered as she led us to the kitchen. Wynn perched herself on a counter and helped herself to a slice of pepperoni pizza.

I sat at the bar and Malakai sat right next to me. It occurred to me that we were still holding hands, but for some reason, I had no desire to let go. Unfortunately, Malakai pulled away to grab a cookie from Jamie.

"Remember, Kai, Oscar said no more than half a cookie." Jamie reminded Malakai.

Malakai rolled her eyes. "Whatever, I'll just share a cookie with Hiraeth."

I frowned, not understanding why I couldn't get my own cookie. "But I want my own cookie." Everyone laughed at my response.

"You're not eating a whole cookie," Malakai told me.

"Why not?" I asked.

"It won't end well," Jamie explained.

"How bad could it possibly be?" I shrugged. Jamie and Malakai shared a glance before both shaking their heads.

"Give her a whole cookie, I want to see how this ends." Wynn giggled.

"Absolutely not. Her suffering isn't going to be used for your enjoyment." Malakai kept her eyes on me, not even bothering to give Wynn a single glance.

"Are you eating a whole cookie?" I asked Wynn.

"She's done this before, you haven't." Jamie pulled a cookie out of the bag and handed it to me. "Wynn, where's the bathroom?"

"Down the hall, on your left," Wynn said.

Malakai hopped off of her stool. I looked at her in curiosity. "I'll be right back, don't worry your pretty little head." I nodded and turned back to our cookie. I was confused as to why Malakai and Jamie would be going to the bathroom together. I felt a little twinge of jealousy but I pushed it down since there wasn't a reason for it.

As soon as Malakai and Jamie left, Wynn spoke. "I'll give you half of my cookie if you want.

"No thank you." I declined.

"Trust me, half a cookie isn't going to do shit for you. Your first time trying an edible should be fun. That bitch isn't the boss of you, don't let her tell you what to do." Wynn said. She broke half of her edible and handed it to me. "Come on... Rye Rye, loosen up a little."

I sighed and shoved the whole thing in my mouth before Jamie or Malakai could catch me. I chewed and swallowed it as quick as I could, not even stopping to enjoy the taste. Soon after, both Malakai and Jamie joined us in the kitchen.

Both seemed normal so I guess they didn't fool around or anything. "Are you okay, Hiraeth?" Malakai asked as she took her place next to me.

"Yeah, why?" I looked all over her neck for a hickey or anything. I realized that I was being silly. Malakai wasn't gay so there was no way she'd even do anything with Jamie.

"You look confused." Malakai shrugged and grabbed our cookie. She split it in half. I excitedly took my half of it and glanced at Wynn who was beaming.

"We should break out a board game," Jamie suggested.
