Hiraeth Davenport
I splashed my face with water a couple of times. The drops of water didn't do anything except make me feel... wet. I gripped the sink and took a deep breath. My world was slowly spinning. Not enough to make me lie on the floor, but I definitely wouldn't be able to walk straight. Where the hell did I need to walk anyway?
Someone gently knocked on the bathroom door. "Are you okay?" Wynn asked. "Are you puking?"
"No!" I wiped my face with my hands and opened the door. "I was just washing my face."
Wynn looked at me weirdly. "Yeah... okay. Are you feeling sick? Do you need anything?" I shook my head, slowly. In order to further reassure her, I smiled.
Wynn laughed and just grabbed my hand. She led me to the living room where Malakai and Jamie sat. Jamie sat on a small couch, but Malakai sat on a larger couch by herself. Both of them seemed to be engaging in a funny conversation.
I frowned to myself. "How long did I spend in the bathroom?" I asked.
"Ten minutes," Malakai said. She seemed to be perfectly fine. "Are you okay, Hiraeth?"
I tried to resist the smile that wanted to kidnap my face because of how she said my name. "I am absolutely and inquisitively perfect." I plopped down next to her.
"You haven't blinked in at least thirty seconds," Malakai noted. I sighed and laid my head in her lap.
"The earth is spinning and gravity is an asshole." I pouted. Malakai laughed and shook her head. She looked very pretty from my angle. Then again I was sure that she was pretty from every angle. "Kai?"
"Yes, Baby?"
I must've been completely off the planet. There was no way she would call me 'Baby'. Right?
I blinked three times, trying to remember what I wanted to say. I searched all over her face for an answer. But I just kept getting lost in her features. "I love your eyes," I said stupidly.
"Thank you." The corner of her mouth twitched up, but she didn't fully smile.
Wynn cleared her throat so I turned my head to look over at her jealous ass. "I love you too, Asshat. And you too Jamie."
"You didn't tell me you loved me." Malakai fake pouted, teasingly. "You said that you loved my eyes."
I made a heart with my hands. "I love you most of all, Kai Kai."
"Come with me to get another pizza." Wynn practically dragged me off of Malakai and the couch. I yelped as I fell to the floor. "Forget it, you're fucking useless," Wynn grumbled as she walked away, leaving me on the floor.
"Bitch." I croaked.
"What's her problem?" Jamie asked Malakai. I wasn't sure if they were talking about me or Wynn. I figured Wynn since I did nothing wrong. Did I do something wrong?
Suddenly I felt a wave of embarrassment and lack of air. I had just told Malakai that I loved her. Sure I told everyone else that I loved them but... it felt different. I meant it differently. And she didn't even respond.
I whined and covered my face with my hands. "My life is over!" I wailed. I didn't mean to say it out loud but I couldn't filter it.
Malakai removed my hands from my face. She was right on the floor beside me. "You're gonna be okay."
"I don't feel okay." I frowned.
"Oh poor baby, you ate a whole cookie didn't you?" She shook her head in disappointment. My silence confirmed her accusation. "Hiraeth, what did I tell you about eating a whole cookie?"
"You said not to do it," I mumbled.
"Why?" Malakai sighed.
"You said it wouldn't end well," I muttered, in shame.
"And what did you do?" Malakai asked.
I sighed and whined at my utter stupidity. "I ate a whole cookie."
"Look where that got you." Jamie snickered. I held up my middle finger, hoping that Jamie knew it was aimed at her.
"Are you mad at me?" I asked Malakai.
She shook her head and laughed. "No, Baby. It's quite funny, actually." She patted my shoulder. "Next time, don't listen to Wynn." She stood up. "I have to powder my nose."
I pouted as I watched Malakai leave me. I waited until she was out of sight to turn to Jamie. I sighed as I realized I was actually in love with my former best friend. Fuck. "Jamie, I have a confession to make."
"You should say something to her. I know you don't think she likes girls but it's worth a try." Jamie suggested.
I had no intention of confessing to her. I would just have to take that to the grave. "Don't tell, Wynn."
"Tell me what?"
