When Lauren and the kids arrived home, she knew something odd was occurring when she found both Max and Helen on the living room couch quietly playing the card game War. It wasn't like there was music playing or the tv on in the background—or even them bickering or chatting away about something random.

No.

They were silently playing the game as Max lounged with a new bag of frozen Brussel sprouts on him and Helen simply leaning onto her left side to face him a bit better.

"Um...everything okay?" She asks as she sets her keys and purse on the table.

"Oh, yes. Just relaxing a bit." Helen says with a smile as Lauren comes around to look at them both fully.

"Oh...how was your day?" She inquires and Max flips his card over and Helen beats it with a Queen.

"Fine."

"Hmm. How's your gens?"

"Fine. Much better, actually."

"So you'll be going to work tomorrow?"

"I said better...I didn't say recovered." He clarifies and takes the next set of cards.

"And you?" She asks Helen and she sighs.

"I feel a tad better...still a little fluttery." She complains and Lauren just nods.

"Uh huh....besides play cards- what else did you do?"

"Well, Mum—we laid in bed all day- ate soup and chatted." Max says and Lauren simmers slightly. The kids at this point have gone to change out of their uniforms without even acknowledging the adults.

"Did you now?"

"Yep." Helen reshuffles her hand to start her conquest over and Max waits patiently.

"Interesting."

"I suppose." Max says bored out of his mind and Helen finishes her shuffle and they resume again.

"You two weren't misbehaving—were you?"

"He touched me." Helen says blandly and Lauren shoots her eyes to Max.

"She played into sexual desire." He also blandly states and Lauren shakes her head and sits on the coffee table.

"Max— your stitches."

"Frozen vegetables work wonders at quelling said desires." Helen says as she collects the pile.

"Why do you both seem pissy?"

"We're just bored. There's nothing interesting to watch and the Wi-Fi's slow today." Max grumbles.

"Oh my God- you both are like children."

"Well what do you expect? We can't take a walk or leave the house to get coffee and fresh air." Helen gripes and Lauren rolls her eyes.

"Can't even enjoy each other's company passed holding hands- so ya know..." Max complains and even Helen looks at him with contempt. "What?!"

Shaking her head, Lauren watches her two friends and wonders just how much of this story is fabricated.

"What else?"

"What do you mean what else? This is it. We already played five games and I've nearly won all of them." Helen says.

"Fairly certain she's cheating." Max says and lays down a card.

"Any sightings of Judge?" Lauren inquires.

"I bloody wish." Helen states.

"I don't!"

"Pussy." Helen says and he glares at her.
