He couldn't stop smiling all weekend.
At one point it freaked the teen boys out- to the point they had to advert their eyes from him.
Max couldn't help but feel beyond excited.
Not only did the oldest boy called him Dad, but now he and Helen were having another baby.
Lounging in the living room before work this morning, Max sips his coffee - that same smile resting on his lips as he sits alone bright and early.
"Good morning, Darling." Helen says as she comes around the sofa in her leopard skirt, black blouse, and heels- adjusting her earring as she goes. When she sees his smile, she inwardly sighs and sits beside him on the couch. "Still smiling, I see. You're so cute."
Setting his coffee down, Max tugs her gently into his side and kisses her from neck to jaw and then little pecks on her lips.
"Haha... oh my goodness- where were you eighteen years ago when I needed this sort of love and support?"
"Acting like a jackass most likely." He sniggers and allows his hand to travel up and down her waist. "Any nausea this morning?"
"A tad. Nothing a little breakfast can't handle."
"What do you want? I'll make you anything." He jumps up ready to please her and once more she's caught giggling at him.
"You are adorable. Just some toast and a banana is fine." She states as she goes to stand up.
"I'll get it. Just relax and enjoy your morning."
"Come back here." She says and puts her hand out. He comes back to the couch and sits beside her. "We need to keep it on the DL for now- okay? No need getting everyone all excited before 12 weeks- right?"
He takes a moment and inwardly tries to rationally understand her words.
He knows anything could happen.
Natural or otherwise.
And getting the children invested so early could be devastating to say the least if anything were to happen.
"I know it's going to be hard- and I know you're really excited, but ya gotta rein it in, Babe." She says and he rests his head on her shoulder, sucks in a deep breath and then slowly lets it out. Looking up at her after a few moments, he tries so hard to be serious.
"Get your own breakfast, Woman. I ain't serving you." He states and she can't stop laughing.
"Haha, I love the effort. Thank you, heehee."
"Huh...when do you schedule..." He quietly asks.
"A few more weeks. I'll go to 8 for bloodwork and then they'll follow up at 12."
"Huh....you're killing me smalls."
"I think you'll live." She snickers and presses a little kiss to his lips.
....
Standing at her desk this morning, cleaning up some paints, Helen inwardly smiles as she thinks about everything.
The way Max is so excited.
The way Lukas is accepting him.
Luna's progress in general.
Logan working hard on controlling his moods and actions.
It all seems so perfect.
"Excuse me..." A faint voice calls to Helen from her open doorway and she finds a woman in business attire standing there with a brief case. "Are you Miss Helen Sharpe?"
