"Uh...what's going on in here?" Max asks a little amused as he finds both Lauren and Helen sitting in the dark basement.
Helen doesn't say anything and instead stands up and heads out passed him and the kids- knocking him in the shoulder as she goes.
"What..." He begins and Lauren stands up and heads out as well— her legs trying to catch up to Helen- who is already up the stairs and down the hallway. "Does someone want to tell me what's going on?"
He says to no one in particular and now both kids leave him at the basement steps. They climb and head upstairs to find the women and maybe some answers.
"Helen! Helen wait!" Lauren calls as she races after her. She finds her turning into her classroom and as she takes a step in, Helen feels so overwhelmed and frustrated now and wishes she never went down to the basement. "Helen..."
"You were just gonna keep sitting on that little nugget of truth weren't you?! For the rest of your life!" She growls loudly as she begins packing up her things to leave.
"Helen..." Max enters and catches how angry Helen seems. "What's wrong?"
"Please don't ask..." Lauren tries but it's too late.
"Which one of you started it then? Which one decided to have a go and then sit on this and lie to me that nothing ever went on?!" Helen knows she really has no right to be angry considering that the kiss probably happened well before she even knew Max existed.
But he still lied to Helen.
Regardless.
He told her nothing ever happened between him and Lauren. He said he found her attractive, but only thinks of her like a sister. So how long before he found her to be like a sister did
they share intimacy together?
Enter question- when did they stop?
"What is she..."
"Max- I have this..."
"Do you?! Because I've been lied to for a while now and frankly I think I deserve some bloody answers!"
"Can we go home and talk about what's bothering you?" Max kindly suggests and Helen narrows her eyes and looks between both of them. "Helen?"
"Why don't you two go and get your story straightened out because frankly- I've had enough for today." She walks passed them and gently tugs on Lukas' hand as she goes. She heads down the hall and prepares to leave, when Lukas stops her from moving.
"Mum? What happened?"
"Nothing."
"Is this about what we found in the basement?"
"Oh I found something in the basement that I unfortunately unburied." Helen growls as she steps outside and Lukas follows her.
"What?"
"Lies and deceit. That's what I've found."
"So you didn't see the huge painting behind the stone?" He asks curiously and Helen shakes her head.
"Couldn't see anything in there. Frankly, I found way more than I wanted too."
"Mum- just tell me what the matter is?"
"Your Aunt at some point has had some sort or relationship with Max- whether she wants to fully admit it or not."
"No- she said they've never dated..."
"Honey, relationship doesn't always mean relationship." Helen states angrily and it takes Lukas a moment or two before he realizes what his mum means.
