They were quickly taken up to a room and Dr. Ellis was immediately called in. They had her hooked up to the heart monitor and gave her IV fluids and nitroglycerin tablets to calm her fluttering.
Max sat next to her the entire time and held her hand- his mind racing with worry as she seemed so overly exhausted from her own dismay.
"Well, my dear— I've got good news and bad news for you tonight." Nathan Ellis says as he walks in with a grin and his tablet. He shuts the door behind him and leans against the counter near Helen. He sets the tablet down and crosses his arms as he looks at her. "Good news first?"
"Does it matter?" Helen tiredly grumbles.
"Ooh you are always so delightful." He jokes and she snorts.
"Jog on..." She says and Max just kisses her hand- hoping he can relieve her stress.
"Good news is your heart is perfectly fine. Just some minor arrhythmia and unnecessary fluttering due to stress. That's the good news." Nathan says and then sighs slightly. "Bad news?"
"Let's have it already." She groans, hating the suspense.
"We're gonna pop another monitor on ya just for a few days to make sure everything's okay. I wrote you a script for two days off of work so you can fully relax- which means no strenuous activities for ya and lots of rest." Helen groans heavily because she knew this is what would happen if Max brought her in. She hates missing work and she hates the damn rubber monitor they make her wear.
And most of all that means no fun times at night with Max.
"See...you're okay." Nathan says cheerily and Helen looks at him angered.
"I hate you..." She blandly says.
"Oh come now!! It could have been worse- Helen. Your boy here did a great job. I'm glad he brought you in because it could have gotten very serious very quickly." Nathan says and Helen sighs as she closes her eyes. "Well, we'll get the discharge papers all squared away for you- Rebecca will be in to hook you up with the monitor and you can be on your way."
He grabs his tablet and leaves and Max just kisses her hand again.
"Helen..."
"Yes?" She drones.
"I'm not sorry I brought you in."
"Huh...." Sighing heavily she turns and looks at him- her face slightly angered and yet grateful. "I'm grateful you love me....but fuck that monitor."
"Why? Cause it tells me when I have you hot and bothered?" He raises his eyebrows suggestively and she narrows her eyes at him.
"You realize this means we won't be participating in any extra curricular activities until it comes off right?" He face elongates and his mouth opens slightly. "Yes...so while you did a great job in assuring my heart is functioning properly- you have blacklisted yourself from enjoying me for the foreseeable future. Thank you."
She sarcastically says and he sighs.
"Huh, still not sorry for it."
"I know..."

By the time they got home, they found all three kids asleep on the couch under a blanket. A rainbow paper chain hangs a from chandelier to kitchen racks to the top of the mantle and paper flowers stuck to popsicle sticks make a very adorable bouquet in the center of the kitchen island.
"Oh my gosh...they are so sweet." She quietly says and slowly makes her way over to the couch and bed s down- kissing each and every one of them on the forehead. As she stands up to leave, Luna is the first to find Helen home.
