Some time has passed, there are pumpkins around the grounds implying that its now October. Lara hasn't touched Ravenclaw's book since that night although something in her wants to read it so badly. She has already cast various detection spells on it to make sure it didn't have a compulsion charm or anything else on it, which it didn't. She realized it was probably the temptation of learning magic from one of the smartest witches of all time that was compelling her, so she finally decided to look at it tonight before bed. Grabbing her books she made her way to the Great Hall for breakfast not noticing the Gray Lady spying on her.
Lily was getting suspicious, there must be some connection between Ravenclaw's book and the Gray Lady but what.
Later that day she made her way outside for her first Beasts class. The 'classroom' was outside a large stone hut with several pens behind it and a few desks set up in a mini classroom. We see the teacher, Professor Howin dressed in a tan tunic and hat and a gray workers apron.
Professor Howin: "Welcome everyone. I see you've already met some of the many beasts we study in this class. Though, be advised, none of these creatures should be taken lightly. They are all, in their own way, dangerous - especially if one does not know how to handle them properly." The Diriclaw she was feeding disappears, the Hufflepuff girl next to Lara holding a Puffskein smiled.
Professor Howin: "Now, it seems many of you are out of practice. Let's take some time to review the basics of how to care for a beast, shall we? Miss Sweeting, would you please assist our new student with the lesson today?" She motions to the Hufflepuff girl.
Poppy Sweeting: "Yes, Professor Howin. Hello, I'm Poppy - Poppy Sweeting. Don't worry about Professor Howin's speech, she overexaggerates sometimes. All the beasts in class are perfectly safe." The Puffskein suddenly sticks out its tongue and licks her face.
"Ew!" Lavender and other girls grimace.
Professor Howin: "Miss Sweeting, pay attention, please. The tongue of a Puffskein can be a slippery devil."
Poppy Sweeting: "Uh, yes, Professor. Here, you can practise on Gerald."
"Gerald?" James and Sirius snort.
