Epilogue
The Great Hall
"Hufflepuff!" The Great Hall claps as the last first year is sorted.
"Welcome students new and old to another year at Hogwarts." Dumbledore gives his usual welcoming speech.
"Now I'm sure you are all hungry after a long train ride so I will try and make this quick. A reminder to all students that the Forbidden Forest is off limits, I understand how tempting it may be to explore but I implore you to stay away, the forest is home to many dangerous creatures that won't hesitate to make a meal out of you. Students should also be aware that the use of spells such as jinxs and hexes in the hallways outside of class will result in point loss and possible detention. Now as some of you may have already noticed the castle has undergone a recent renovation and several classrooms have been redesigned to be more aesthetically appealing. In addition, the old moving staircases have now been replaced with a new more efficient spiral staircase arrangement." A lot of students were happy with this announcement, they never liked the old stairs and after seeing what the spiral arrangement was like they are happy for the change.
"Finally, you may have noticed the extra chair at the staff table, this is due to a recent change in staff. Professor Binns, our beloved History of Magic teacher has decided to move on -" The students began cheering loudly, they have been wanting a new History of Magic professor for years. Students who usually sleep through the class groan, now they will have to actually pay attention. "I wonder who the new professor is?" Hermione wonders. "Who cares? Now we have to pay attention in that class." Ron groans, Hermione just glares at him.
Dumbledore fires a few fireworks from his wand to get everyone's attention. "Thank you. As I was saying Professor Binns has decided to move on, so please welcome your new History of Magic teacher and assistant Head of House, Professor Larinda Ravenclaw!" Harry and Elizabeth gasp, their sister is the new History of Magic professor. A familiar white owl flew in through the windows before landing next to the staff table where it morphs into Lara, dressed in dark blue robes with gold accents, on the back of her robes was a large golden eagle with its wings spread wide, yellow magical energy flowing through its fabric. The Ravenclaws erupted in applause and the other houses followed, except for a few Slytherins. The fashion obsessed students like Lavender were mesmerized by their new professor's outfit which seemed almost ethereal.
(A/N: It's the outfit at the end of chapter 44. It's the Ravenclaw house costume you get for completing the Daedalian Key quest as a Ravenclaw, it's one of my favorite outfits in the game.)
After dinner the students made their way back to their common rooms, Hermione couldn't wait for History of Magic. After joining Professor Flitwick in welcoming the new Ravenclaws and introducing herself to the other professors at the staff meeting Lara made her way down to the Map Chamber to check on the repository; she had to ensure that her efforts weren't for nothing. The Keepers were relieved to see she was alive, and after talking for a few minutes she made her way down to the repository.
"Thank Merlin it worked." She sighs as she checks the wards, satisfied that her plan has worked, and the repository is safe. "I had a feeling I would find you here." Turning she sees Dumbledore standing by the doorway. "Knowing first-hand how destructive this magic can be, I had to make sure it was safe." "Of course, to think that something as undesirable as pain nearly ended wizardkind." He says stroking his beard while gazing at the repository. "It's a terrifying prospect, I'm relieved that all my time and research appear to be working. However, the fact that you got past the two sentries guarding the entrance concerns me." She replies. "Perhaps they didn't consider me a threat. However, I understand your concerns and I may have a solution. You might consider adding the Fidelius Charm, with yourself as the Secret Keeper." He explains the benefits of the charm to her, and they agree to talk more about it later.
