Ravenclaw Common Room
Lara is currently working on her assignments while also trying to understand what happened in Divination. Those people seem familiar, but I don't know why. Their clothes don't look anything like wizard clothing, could they be Muggles? Then there is that baby girl, Larinda was it? She has the same first name as me, but I can't be her can I? My hair is brown, her's is red. Maybe that was me and something happened to my hair but what? Could they be my birth parents? Ollivander mentioned a brother, at the time I believed he just confused me with someone else but what if he didn't. But why would they abandon me? No, I shouldn't jump to conclusions, I'll try and look into it later. (A/N: I don't know if I ever mentioned this, but Italics usually indicate Lara's thoughts unless it's for a letter or something else.)
The Potters exchange hopeful looks, she is so close to figuring it out. Lily feels somewhat heartbroken, did her daughter really believe they abandoned her.
A flapping of wings broke her out of her thoughts as an owl swooped in and dropped a letter in front of her. It's from Professor Weasley, she says that Deek had an idea for how she can study magical beasts outside of class.
Room of Requirements
She walks in and is greeted by Deek holding the leather bag he found the day she discovered the room.
Deek: "Ah. Deek is so happy to see you. Deek noticed this bag in the Room the other day. You must need it to help with your schoolwork. Deek has seen one of these before. Deek calls it a 'nab-sack'."
He opens the bag and it starts to suck in the air around it like a vacuum.
Deek: "Perfect for gathering and transporting beasts." He closes the bag.
Lara: "I have been thinking about something Professor Howin said in Beasts class - that I should study as many beasts as I can on my own time. She also mentioned that poachers have been active in the area. So, perhaps the beasts will be safer with us than out there on their own."
Deek: "Precisely what Deek was thinking. You see? The Room knew exactly what you needed. And, luckily, Deek can show you how to best use the nab-sack - and where. Come along, then."
Hogwarts Grounds, Dusk
We see the castle in the background, Deek and Lara are walking along the cobblestone path. Deek is telling her about his past.
Deek: "That was a dark time in Deek's life. Deek found himself in service of the cruellest wizard he ever met. A nasty poacher. Deek hated working for him. He did horrible things to beautiful beasts. (shiver) It was during those days that Deek first saw a nab-sack. It'll be nice to see one used for good."
They eventually arrive at a clearing with a group of roaming Puffskeins.
Deek: "Deek enjoys coming here to watch the beasts - especially the poffle of Puffskeins nearby. It will be nice to keep them safe. All you will need to do is get close, direct the open nab-sack toward the Puffskein, and in it'll go."
She pulls out the nab-sack and sneaks up on a Puffskein and opens the bag, a moment later the Puffskein is sucked into the bag.
"Is that legal?" Hermione asks.
"At the time it was, nowadays you need a special license to own and operate one." A Ministry employee states.
Deek: "Poachers capture Puffskeins and - well. Deek isn't sure what they do with them. Deek is certain they will be safer with you. Now, not all beasts will be as simple to rescue as a Puffskein. Deek suggests you next find a beast that can fly. A Jobberknoll, perhaps?"
