Hanni

I never thought I would set foot back in Korea, it's been so long. Years back I was told that I didn't have much of a possibility to ever step foot back here. But here I was, my feet standing right in front of my best friend's house.

My body was sweating with how nervous I felt. Seeing her after almost 11 years is very crazy. I last saw her when I was 18 and now I'm 28 turning 29 soon. I never really realized just how much I missed being here.

With a shaky breath, I knocked on the door. My heart was beating out my chest. God, I missed her so much.

I could hear her talking to who I guess could be her husband, or even kids maybe as she made her way to the door.

"You'll be fine, she definitely misses you too!" My husband, Lee Heesung, said as he placed a reassuring kiss on my forehead.

Heesung was a close friend of mine back in high school, and next thing I knew, I saw him on my same flight. He had a scholarship to the same school I was going to. And I guess you could say our souls bonded and well we fell in love. I formed a life a life with him, and were about ready to take the next step. Having a baby.

But that's a story for another day.

The door opened to reveal my best friend, who looked at me in pure shock as she quickly reached out to hug me. Tears swelled in my eyes, as her she engulfed me in her embrace that me feel back home. She let out a squeal as held me close.

Sometimes I hate it, but I realize that I should've never left, that this is where I belonged. That maybe for once I was wrong. But, I wasn't, destiny had something planned for me as it sent me this man to be with me for the rest of my life.

Danielle turned to look at Heesung with an even more shocked face. I gave Danielle a tiny awkward smile when she looked back at me. It looks wrong, Heesung and I were very close friends who always swore that there was nothing going on between us. But here I am, wearing a ring with his name engraved inside.

"What a surprise, please come in." Danielle said as she took a step to the side and let us walk in. Danielle suddenly seemed bothered, not with me but with Heesung.

And when I walked in, I was more surprised than her. There stood my ex's sister with a baby in her arms as she was coming down the stairs. I never knew Danielle got pregnant, or that she even got married with Haerin.

I turned around to look at her but she only gave me a slight smile as she walked past me and made her way to Haerin. Who was glaring at me and Heesung. "Haerin, go get Hyein." Danielle said carefully, as she took the baby from her grasp.

Haerin turned to look at Danielle, she wasn't happy and I started to feel bad for Heesung. He looked all awkward and scared as he stood beside me. What happened with her sister has nothing to do with my present. She has no right to look at my husband that way.

"I'll get her and then I'm out of here." Haerin said, her voice was cold as her eyes that once looked at me warmly, were looking at me with full anger and sadness. It got awkward once she disappeared up the stairs, stomping away. And with that Danielle cleared her throat.

"Please, come to the living room. I'll get you guys something to drink." She said quickly, only waiting for us to sit down so she could leave. More likely going to check on Haerin.

I never knew that finally being back home felt so wrong. That I was so uninvited to my second home. I was snapped out of my thoughts when I harsh slamming of a door was heard and Danielle appearing with an eight year old girl, who cling on to her. Scared of the strangers sitting down on her couch. "Are they the reason mom is mad, mom is never mad." Said the girl as she looked directly at me and then at Heesung who was looking at me.

He knows about my past relationship very clearly.

"Danielle, if you don't mind, may I use your restroom?" He asked politely and Danielle nodded, later giving him instructions on where to go. After giving her a quick thank you, he left off to the bathroom. Leaving me with Danielle and the two kids.

"When did you set your eyes on the play girl that you despised?" I asked as I looked at Hyein, the first born of their love.

"I got the chance to truly know her and well...I fell in love with her." She said as she kept looking at me, I turned to look at her and she let out a sigh.

"When did you and Heesung happen?" She asked, seriousness laced in her voice that slightly threw me off. "Almost a year after we arrived at the U.S. I fell in love with him the moment we landed, I don't know why but he became everything to me." I said and she shook her head.

"Hanni, you should know that...." As she was about to tell me, Heesung appearing cut her off completely. I'm guessing it's something Heesung can't know.

"Are you girls ready for the reunion?" He asked completely drifting the conversation I had with Danielle away. "Not really, I really don't want to pull up to the party and find Sullyoon at the door ready to take my wife away." Danielle said with an eye roll.

I let out a slight chuckle just imagining the scene out. I'm sorry Danielle, but I bet my money on Sullyoon.

Me, Danielle and Heesung spent at least an hour just talking away until the front door opened. To show an even more angered Haerin who stomped her way up the stairs. Completely ignoring us.

I looked over at him. He was looking down at the floor to avoid looking at her furiously angered eyes. I moved on with my life, what's so wrong with that!

I understand I hurt her sister but we've both moved on by now. I'm married and I'm planning on having a family. I don't care about what she's doing or who she's with. I left her in my past and I never thought of her again as I built my new life abroad.

I looked at Danielle apologizing for me having to leave so soon, it wasn't my intention but I wasn't going to have Heesung be uncomfortable around Haerin. He's a good man, that's all that should matter!

"Well, either way, I'll see you at the reunion tomorrow." Danielle said with her usual bright smile as she brought me in to one last hug before sending us off back home. Wishing us a safe trip she closed the door to her house.

And of course, I didn't forget to say bye to Hyein who only offered me a shy smile and then the pretty little baby that Danielle held the whole time. Who gripped on to my finger tightly, it was a tough battle to have her let go of me.

As we were in the car I looked up at the sky, the stars shined, like a luring power that was calling to me.

"Don't ruin my future, Minji."
