Hanni
I felt my body freeze upon seeing the person I opened the door for. I could feel my heart physically squeezing, my chest compressing making it hard to breathe. I don't know what reaction I was expecting to have but it definitely wasn't this.
"Heesung?" I questioned as I looked at him and the bouquet of roses he was holding, the same old charming smile on his face. How dare he?
After six full months of leaving me alone he dares to come here all happily! After everything I went through trying to figure out what I did wrong, trying to figure out what he was doing. Just trying to find a solution to our falling marriage. "What are you doing here?" I asked, I felt someone standing behind me and Heesung's jaw tightened as he looked behind me for a split second.
It was Minji, she brought me a sense of security.
I was able to build such an amazing friendship with Minji in these months. Sometimes I couldn't believe that I was pushing her away. She's made these past months worth it, and I know I don't deserve it at all. But she gave me the strength to do this today, to put an end to this suffering.
"I came back for my wife? What else would I be doing, love?" He asked, the audacity he has to look confused. "I'm not your wife, Heesung, not anymore. Take your stupid ring, and leave." I said as grabbed the ring on my finger and slid it off.
I threw it at him and I could see fury in his eyes. "What are you talking about?!" He yelled, and I took a step back at the sudden loud voice. "You better put that ring back on, Hanni. And it's not an option." He said, picking up the ring and trying to give it to me. I shook my head at him and he let out a chuckle.
"Put that damn ring on, Hanni. You are still legally my wife, if the law doesn't bring you back to your senses, I will and it won't look pretty." He said but then I felt myself being pushed to the side as a tall figure stood in between me and Heesung.
"She's not going to put that ring back on, Heesung. You better turn around go back from where you came from." Minji said and Heesung let out a scoff.
"Are you still mad at me? I thought after all these years you'd forget it." Heesung said mockingly and I saw how Minji's body tensed. I couldn't even ask for help as Haerin, Danielle, and the kids left to go spend some time in family.
"How could I forget? You took it all away from me." Minji said and Heesung let out a maniacal laugh, sending a shiver down my spine. "Oh, Minji. I told you, Hanni would be mine, and there was nothing in this world that you could do to get her back." And at that I felt the world spin around me. It was true, it was all true! Minji spoke the truth.
"Do you even love her?" Minji asked and I felt my heart halting for a split second, waiting for his response. "Of course, what would make you think otherwise? Or are you trying to shove horrid ideas in my wife's head?" He asked accusingly.
"Are you trying to win her back?" He asked pushing Minji almost making her fall on me, but she stood her ground. "What about Karina?" The familiar name made something in me break.
What does Karina have to do with this? She was my close friend back abroad, there's no way she could betrayed me.
"Can you mind your own business? That's a matter for me only." He said and Minji let out a scoff. "It's my business indeed if it means that it'll cause grand damage to her." Minji said and Heesung's eyes could only get angrier.
"You cheating on Hanni, should make you feel ashamed to even step foot at my door. I suggest for you to leave." Minji said pushing Heesung back.
I felt the air being knocked out of my chest when Minji spoke. He did what? He-he promised to never do such thing! How was I so stupid?!
"I'm not leaving without my wife, Minji. She will not stay here with you! And who cares if I cheated! I'm a man, I'm allowed to do whatever the fuck I please." Heesung completely shattered me once he was done speaking.
I just wanted to hide somewhere and just forget all of this. How was I so stupid to not have seen this? I should've known, it was right in front of me. The reason why my marriage was at its last string, he was doing shit behind my back. And I thought he would never because he promised. He's a liar!
"She's staying right here with me, Heesung. And if you weren't so busy fucking her friend, you'd know that she already sent the legal demand to be divorced with you. And if I were you I would agree." Minji said and I felt goosebumps as she spoke.
"What? I can just say no, and we'll stay being married. If I deny she'll still be my wife, so either you like it or not, Hanni is coming with me." Heesung said. "Either you agree, or I'll be the one to chop off your head personally, Heesung. Don't underestimate me, I would move heaven and earth for Hanni." Minji said and I felt my blood run cold.
Was she crazy?! How could she just say a thing like that? I just stood there in shock to what I have heard, not knowing what to do.
"You can't threaten me, Kim. I'd have you killed before you manage to make a single move on me." Heesung's eyes were just diabolical as they looked at Minji. Who would've thought of what he was truly capable of.
"There's always been a huge difference between us." Minji said letting out a chuckle as she shook her head at him. "At least, I never asked anyone to do the work I could do myself." And what I saw next made me shut my eyes in fear.
Minji pulled a gun out and pointed it directly at his head. "Either you leave, and agree to that divorce or I will kill you...or I could just go find Karina with the baby she's going to give birth." And once more, another bullet straight to my heart. How does Minji know all of this?
But it must've been true as fear was written all over his face. "Leave the baby out of these, this is between us." Heesung said and Minji shook her head.
" I will go after everything you care for, Heesung. Wouldn't you want me to go visit your mother? Sometimes I wonder what she's been up to, she used to adore me." And with that Heesung's eyes widened.
"Minji." He warned but Minji wasn't having it. She pressed the gun against his head even more. "I'm not scared to pull this trigger, the only reason I'm not burying you in the backyard is because of the woman that stands behind me that loves you." Minji said as she turned to look at me.
Her eyes were cold, but they were soft if you truly looked.
"It's either at my terms or not, Heesung." Minji said as she turned to look back at him. He let out a frustrated sigh as he threw the bouquet to the ground. "And don't even plan anything silly, I'd have you killed before you even get the idea." And with that Minji pulled the gun away.
"Do we have a deal?" Heesung could only nod at her as his anger was consuming him but he didn't dare to do anything.
He gave me abort glance as he backed away, Minji closing the door as she turned to me. Dropping the gun to the ground as she came to me carefully not trying to scare me.
Despite of what I just saw, all I needed was to be in her arms after the whole truth that was spilled. I needed her comfort, I needed her. And once I was in her arms, I broke down. I could only try to hold on to her to keep myself up.
"Shh, it'll be okay." She whispered against my ear, hoping to calm me.
And she stayed true to her words, she managed to save me.
