Adrian's pov:-

I was sitting at my desk in the Company's office when I heard a knock on the door.

My office is meticulously designed, featuring rich mahogany wood paneling and custom-built furniture that blends functionality with luxury. A large, polished desk sits at the center, equipped with the latest technology, including multiple high-resolution monitors and seamless connectivity tools. Behind the desk, a plush leather chair commands attention, while a strategically placed bookshelf showcases a curated selection of industry-relevant literature and awards. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide an impressive backdrop, offering sweeping views of the city and filling the room with natural light.

"King, May I come in?" My secretary Bennett asked.

"Yes, Come in", I replied.

"Are there any updates or new developments regarding our deal with Edward Security?"I questioned, eager to know the latest status and progress of our ongoing negotiation.

"They have already signed the deal", Bennett said hesitantly.

"With whom, who the fuck they think they are dealing with?"I snapped. Nobody dares to engage in the deal I'm involved in because they are fully aware of the repercussions it entails.

"Astor group, they even signed the agreements", He replied.

"Once more, I understand why Dad despises him so intensely", I muttered.

The Russo Group is the number one company in the country. Dad worked tirelessly for decades to establish this brand. When he stepped down from his position, I, as the sole heir, took on the role of chairman. I work diligently every day to ensure that the Russo Group maintains its position at the top. I will do whatever it takes within my power to upload our success.

And the only person coming in my way is Henry Astor and his Company. For years, the Astor Group and Russo Group were renowned competitors, and this rivalry is the primary reason why my father loathe Henry Astor so much.

"Mr. Astor played well this time", I commented.

"No it's not Mr.Astor who cracked the deal, but his daughter, Iris Astor", Bennett replied.

"The CEO, Right", I asked.

"Yes and there are rumours that------- Bennett stopped when we heard a knock on the door.

"Come in", I said.

My bodyguard, Cade, emerged and calmly conveyed, "Sir, we've apprehended him."

"Where is he?" I asked.

"In the basement", Cade replied.

"All set", I questioned

"All set, sir", He nodded.

"Fine let's go", I said in an amused tone.

Our basement was a tightly guarded secret, a hidden chamber accessible only to me, Bennett, and Cade. A heavy oak door, secured with a complex lock, sealed its entrance. Beyond it lay a world of hushed whispers and furtive movements, a space where I conducted my most sensitive business. The air itself seemed to crackle with unspoken tension, a constant reminder of the weight of the secrets held within those dimly lit walls.

As we entered the basement, we discovered a person sitting on the floor, his hand tied at the back, with bruises and blood dripping from his face. I recognised him immediately- Cole knight, my employee, or rather, my employee working for someone else. He was the traitor, selling our confidential information to our competitors for a hefty sum.

I walked to the chair right in front of him and took the seat. Silence descended as I studied him.

"Do you know why you are here?"I asked.

"I-- I--- don't know", Cole replied. All the color draining from his face.

"You definitely know, Cole", I smiled at him.

"I'm sorry boss, I'm sorry----".

"Cut the crap I'm not here for your fucking apology", I said in a dark and edgy voice.

I drew the gun and fired, hitting his right arm. An inhuman howl ripped through the room while I frowned at the blood dripping on the floor.

I leaned forward grabbed his hair and said in a dark and edgy voice, "Nobody messes with Adrian Russo, do you understand".

"Yes, yes I understand", He let out a pained sob.

"Good", I patted his cheek "Let's keep this between us, shall we? I don't want to waste my time on you anymore".

"Clean that up for me, Will you"? I asked Cade.

"I always do that", He said dryly.

I tucked my gun back into my jacket and exited the basement.

People see me as a gentleman, a hero, but they don't see the shadows I hide in. I'm neither angel nor devil; perhaps I'm a blend of both.
