Nervousness crept over me as I gazed at the stage where my father was delivering his speech.

Thank you", I finished my speech with a bright smile on my face.
Applause and appreciation filled the room, but the heartfelt appreciation and applause stirred a mix of emotions.
As I stepped down from the stage, I found myself surrounded by a sea of people congratulating me. I accepted everyone's wishes and appreciation with a broad smile on my face.
"I'm so proud of you, Baby", Helen hugged me tightly.
"Thankyou", I said with a smile. Helen maybe my secretary but she is my bestfriend. The one and only.
"I can't believe you have become the chairwoman", She said in a amused tone.
"Me too", I said sarcastically.
"Oh, come on. Don't tell me you are unhappy with your father's decision," she asked.
"I'm not unhappy with his decision, I just need time to process it I guess", I said dryly.
"You will do a great job, Iris. I'm confident about it".
"Thankyou for always believing in me, Helen", I said with a smile.
"I will always do that. Anyways, I have to go and finish the work. I'll see you soon," she said before leaving.
Lost in my thoughts while sipping champagne, I was startled by Stefan's voice beside me.
"Congratulations, Iris", He said in amused tone.
"Thankyou, Stefan", I replied.
Stefan is a fucker who likes to stick his nose in everyone's business, so I try to avoid him.
"Your father made a clever move. He's aware that next year's list of top companies will be revealed, and everyone knows Russo's consistently rank first. By appointing you as chairwoman, he's adding an intriguing twist, possibly aiming to shift the dynamics," He said with a grin.
I raised a brow in disbelief.
"But let me tell you, you can't beat Adrian. You never can," he continued.
My heart began to beat so rapidly I feared it might burst. I should not react like that at the mere mention of a name for fuck's sake.
"We will see that Stefan", I responded.
"Sure we'll", He said before leaving.
I have taken over the position of chairwoman, and I will do what is right for my company and its people, even if I have to face Adrian.
If he decides to play the game, then I will play too, and everyone will know who the better player is.
