Iris's Pov:-
I woke up with a severe headache and blurred memories of the previous night.
My head throbs like a bass drum solo, and memories of last night are patchy at best. I recall seeing Adrain chatting with Lewis Arison, which fueled a frustration that led to a few too many glasses of wine. But then .....What happened? How did I end up back in my bed?
Ugh, Come on memory. What happened last night! I muttered to myself in frustration. I couldn't have done anything stupid right?
"I like the idea of being your devil".
"Go Home, Iris".What the Fuck!
Adrain's words replayed in my mind: "I like the idea of being your Devil". As he traced my lips and whispered " Go home Iris", Fuck, we were on the verge of a kiss.
Staring in the mirror, confusion clouded my head. Drunk me and Adrain..... not a good mix. But he seemed sober--- why would he do that? He's a mystery I can't solve, no matter how hard I try.
Brain fog and bad decision--- classic me after a few glasses. Whatever happened, happened. I need to shut it down in my brain attic and focus on work. I have an important meeting today.
I got ready and walked downstairs, hoping Dad wasn't there to bombard me with questions, I didn't want to answer.
I was just about to escape through the front door when my mom's voice stopped me" Iris where are you going"?
"Ahh, Office, where do I usually go"? I answered her with a teasing tone.
"I know, but you haven't had breakfast, and how much did you drink at Erica's anniversary party? You know Dad was so angry about it", Mom Snapped.
"Hmm, About that, people drink in parties, Mom. Sometimes indulges a little too much; there's no need to create a fuss about it. As for breakfast, I'll grab something at the office. I need to go; I'm running late", I said.
"Your Dad needs to talk to you. He's in the shower, wait until he comes out", Mom informed.
What does he want to talk to me about now? Hasn't he caused enough trouble already? Wait, does he know that Adrian was at the party last night? Whatever it is, I'll handle things my way. I'm not in the mood to talk to him right now.
"Mom, I'm really running late. I'll talk to him at dinner".
I hurriedly strolled out of the house, already feeling tense. Driving to the office, I checked the presentation once again, not wanting any trouble in the meeting.
Arriving at the office, I wasted no time getting to the meeting room. The presentation went smoothly, and we successfully finalized the deal. A wave of satisfaction washed over me as the tension started to melt away.
"Great job, Iris, that was impressive", Helen exclaimed. We sit in my office, savouring our coffee.
"Thank you, Helen", I said with a smile. Closing this deal is a win, but Adrain keeps popping into my thoughts. I need to find a way to focus.
"Lost in the coffee or something more interesting going on in your head? Helen questioned shifting my attention back.
"Ahh.... No nothing like that", I sipped my coffee.
"Something has definitely happened, tell me about it", Helen asked curiously.
I filled her in on the details from last night.
"Ohh my god, you Guys almost kissed", she Gasped.
"Shhh, Do you want entire office to know about it? And nothing happened like that we were about to kiss, Please", I sighed.
"So you want that to happen", Helen smirked.
"What? No, ofcourse not", I replied. I didn't intend for that to happen; why would I?
Really?A voice within my mind inquired.
Shut Up!"Anyways, I need to head home. I'll see tomorrow", I said.
"Okay, see you tomorrow", Helen responded.
If my wishes were considered, I wouldn't Go home today. Regardless, whatever Dad wants to discuss, I'll endure it for my own survival.
Reaching home, I found Dad perched on the living room couch, his presence a looming storm cloud. He beckoned me to sit. When he began to speak, my breath hitched and my mind emptied of everything except the pounding in my ears.
