Dad's words have woven a tangled web in my mind. I feel trapped by his words, unable to untangle the confusion and find a clear path forward.

"File? What are you talking about, Dad?" I asked in a concerned tone.

A familiar evil glint flickered in Dad's eyes as he smirked. The one that meant he'd gotten his way, conquered some unseen opponent. My heart pounded. Who was he playing against this time?

"You don't know, shit. Your boyfriend didn't tell you", Dad said with a cunning smile.

"Can we cut to the chase, Dad? Get straight to the point", I said firmly.

"Alright, let's get straight to it. Your boyfriend Adrain possess a confidential file called "Shadow" containing dirt on some of the country's most prominent billionaires, businessmen, and politicians", Dad responded.

What the fuck!

Adrain possesses a secret file containing dirt on some of the most influential figures in the country.
And He never mentioned it to me, not even once. I wonder why he choose to keep it from me.

A wave of nausea washed over me. We always shared secrets, or so I thought. This revelation felt like a punch to the gut, shattering my trust and leaving me in emotional ruins.

No, No, There must be a reason behind his actions.
Yes, I'm sure.
There has to be a reason.

But wait!
How on earth did Dad discover about this secret file?

"Is it really true?" I asked curiously.

Dad gives a curt nod.

"Hold on a minute, Dad. If Adrain kept this file a secret from me, then there's no way anyone else would know. How on earth did you find out about it?" I snapped.

"You're too trusting, princess. He's a snake and a liar. He's got secrets that could bite you", Dad's lips twisted into a knowing smirk.

Dad's tricks won't work on me this time. I've known his manipulative tactics for years. There's no way I'm getting involved until I have a clear understanding of the situation from Adrian's perspective.

"Dad, okay. So you know about the shadow file, let's put that aside. But why did you look into it? I have a feeling you're planning something, aren't you?" I asked curiously.

"How dare you! You started dating our enemy, and now you're doubting your father because of him. Really", Dad snapped.

"I'm not doubting you because of Adrain; I'm doubting you because of your actions, Dad", I said in an angry tone.

I know it's harsh, but it's true. Dad has always put himself above everything, including his family.

"Because of my actions", Dad's laughter echoed, a chilling symphony of derision that made him seem like a monstrous caricature.

Seriously, how can he do this? It's like I don't even know him anymore. This isn't the Dad I thought I had.

This is a ticking time bomb, and I'm stuck here twiddling my thumbs! I need to get to Adrian, now. Every second that passes feels like a punch to the gut. Those answers I need? They can't wait any longer. If I don't talk to him soon, it might be too late, and the consequences could be disastrous.

I tore out of Dad's office, a whirlwind fueled by frustration. Just as I was about to slam the door, a hesitant "Ma'am" stopped me in my tracks.

Whirling around, I met the gaze of our receptionist who stood patiently at the doorway.

"Hold on a second, Ma'am. There's something I need to tell you. Actually-------

"Not now", I blurted, my voice laced with urgency. "We'll talk later!" I exclaimed, hurrying towards the exit. There's no time to waste.

I called Bennett on my way to ask if Adrain was in the office, but Bennett informed me he wasn't there. Tagt left one possibility: he might be in the penthouse. I hope he is.

Holding onto the silver of hope, I pray there's still time to make things right.
