Iris's Pov:-

I stared at my reflection in the mirror. Emerald green bodycon dress shimmered under the lights. My hair cascaded in soft waves over my shoulders, and my makeup was impeccable, with bold red lips and smoky eyes. I sighed heavily.

I'm attending a dear friend's anniversary party, though I'd much prefer staying at the office and working. However, my friend's husband is a well-known businessman with significant influence. Naturally, their party will attract powerful billionaires and politicians. It's crucial for me to maintain these connections, especially since I've already lost some shareholders due to that asshole, and I can't let him gain the upper hand.

"I don't allow anyone to win the game I play" His words from earlier came to my mind. Who does he think he is?

I stroll into a hallway, adorned with high ceilings and crystal chandeliers, where a live band played soulful tunes, setting a festive yet intimate atmosphere. Tables draped in white linens and adorned with floral centerpieces filled the room, offering a place for guests to sit and enjoy the Gourmet Cuisine served by attentive wait staff.

I see Erica and Frederick! They're talking to Lewis Arison, the powerful businessman and politician. Guess my coming here won't in vain.

Catching them Free, I strolled over to Erica and Frederick with a warm smile.

"Happy Anniversary to the most wonderful couple", I offered Erica and Frederick a bouquet and gifts, with a bright smile.

"Oh my God, Iris, I'm so happy to see you!" Erica embraces me in a hug.

"I'm glad to be here", I hugged her back.

"Thankyou for coming, Iris", Fredrick said with a smile.

"Thankyou for having me here".

"Frederick, I need some girl time with Iris. Can you excuse us for a bit, Honey? Erica asked Fredrick.

"Ofcourse, Dear. My special guest will be arriving soon, so I need to check the arrangements. You both enjoy your girl time!" Fredrick said before leaving me and Erica alone.

"Special Guest? Who it is?" I asked out of curiosity.

"I don't know who it is. Fredrick wouldn't tell me, saying it was a surprise", She frowned.

"Surprise, Interesting", I commented. Wondering maybe this surprise arrival holds the key to turning tables on Adrain.

"Anyways, you rocked it with that leak situation! Now, come on, spill the beans! Did you figure out who did it and why?" Erica asked curiously.

"You know I------

A sudden lump Formed in my throat as the newcomer appeared in the hallway. Fuck me. The universe is against me today I guess.

Adrain Russo strode inside as if he owned the place. Sharp cheekbones shadowed in eyes, a hint of amusement dancing in their depths. His dark hair, perhaps a touch too long, was swept back in a way that spoke of confidence. Broad shoulders, held straight, spoke of power held with ease. Every line of his well-tailored suit seemed to echo that power, belying the relaxed way he held himself.

"Ahh, Adrian Russo is Frederick's special guest, interesting", Erica said from beside me.

Why did this have to happen to me?
Was I a massive sinner in my past life?

Frederick and Adrain strode towards us. Ugh, why is he coming over here? I can't think straight when he's around.

A shadow fell over me as Adrain stopped in front of me. Though I wasn't exactly short, his height felt overwhelming. I refused to meet his gaze, chun titled down in a silent challenge.

"Happy Anniversary, Erica", Adrain greeted Erica with a smile. I recognise that smile the fake one you present to others. Heck, when did I start paying such close attention to him?

"Thankyou, Adrain. I'm glad you could make it", Erica replied.

"Frederick's my friend, there's no way I'm missing this", Adrain said.

"It's a pleasure to see you again, Iris".

His words were a total downpour, leaving me drenched in confusion. I hesitantly looked up to find him watching me intently, his face a mask of mystery. Our eyes met, and a shiver ran down my spine, stealing my breath away.

Tonight's Forecast? A long, might with a chance of encountering Adrian Russo.
