Iris's Pov:-

I was sitting behind the swarm of files while Helen looked at me with a strange expression.

"What"? I asked.

"Seriously we should be partying somewhere instead of looking at this pyramid", Helen gestured at the swarm of files.

"I don't want to waste my time partying. I've just become the chairwoman, so I need to focus on work", I said with a cunning smile.

"Exactly you've just become the chairwoman, so that calls for a party. Besides, this is giving me a headache", She said in a teasing tone.

"Well, then you should go home and sleep".

"Technically, you need more sleep than I do. It's past midnight; we should head home".

"I need to complete this paperwork. You go home and rest", I muttered.

"Are you sure? I don't think anyone is in the office", She whispered.

"Ohh Come on, don't be ridiculous. What am I, a kid? You go ahead; I'll finish this up quickly and then head home", I responded.

"Alright, take care of yourself. I'll see you tomorrow", Helen said grabbing her stuff.

"Okay, Good night", I said with a smile.

"Good night", She said before leaving.

I leaned back in the chair, staring at the ceiling. It's going to be challenging, but I have to Conquer it. That's always been my power, and I won't let anyone ruin it.

I finished the work and headed back home. I'm so tired and hungry; I need sleep, and some good food would do the trick. I tread quietly, mindful that Mom and Dad might be sleeping, and I don't want to disturb them.

I opened the refrigerator and scanned for something to satisfy me. My eyes landed on cupcakes. Though I'm usually health-Conscious and avoid oil and sugar as if they're my biggest enemies, but sometimes enemies can be beneficial too.

I ate the cupcakes and headed to my room. After a nice shower, I checked some emails, then lay on the bed to sleep.

Staring at the ceiling, I sighed, "welcome to your new and changed world, Iris. I hope you'll make it".

I woke up to the sound of the alarm. Today marks my first day as the chairwoman of Astor Group, and I want everything to be perfect.

I walked downstairs, to find Mom and Dad sitting at the dining table, having their breakfast.

"Good Morning Mom and Dad", I greeted them with a smile.

"Good Morning Princess", They both responded with a warm smile.

"Well first day as the chairwoman, Excited?"Dad asked.

"Of course", I said with a forced smile.

"Princess, you'll have a lot on your plate now, but I'm sure you'll handle it," Dad muttered.

"Ohh come on, honey, Of course she will. Our daughter is perfect in every way", Mom said proudly.

Perfect. Am I perfect? Actually, nobody is perfect in this world, and nobody has to be. Imperfection doesn't mean you are incapable of doing anything; you can achieve anything if you have the will and desire to do so.

"Princess, you have to meet Mr. William today, remember? Dad asked.

"Yes, Helen said you told her to add this appointment urgently. Who is he, Dad? And why do I have to meet him so urgently?" I questioned.

"William, the owner of Kings Group, holds significant power. As you know, we have to secure the top position in this year's top companies. Securing shares of his company and cracking a deal with him would be a game changer. And when I say game changer, I mean the ultimate one," Dad explained.

"So you want me to secure some of his shares, but why would he agree to that?" I asked.

"He will. Remember Grace, our shareholder from B&W industry? He's having affair with her, and surprisingly, his wife doesn't know", Dad laughed.

"So", I asked.

"So you will tell him that it'll be beneficial for him to deal with us", Dad said with Cunning smile.

"You are basically telling me to blackmail him, Dad", I raised a brow in disbelief.

"It's not blackmail, it is just how this world works", Dad muttered.

"It's blackmail Dad and I'll not do it", I said angrily.

"You'll princess, Don't forget that Astor Group is mine and you're in the Chairwoman position because of me".

"I didn't ask you to do that. Hell, I don't want to be the Chairwoman. Then why?" I snapped.

"That doesn't matter because you're the Chairwoman now, and you'll do whatever is best for the company, which includes listening to my orders," Dad said.

"But----

"That's enough; you're running late for the meeting. The driver is waiting for you".

I stroll away from the house angrily, realizing one thing for certain: I'm just a pawn my dad is using, making the world think that I'm the queen.
