"Mesmerized."

You've always left me mesmerized
Like the stars on the horizon
Lighting up the darkness in the sky,
Like an artwork that stood among the rest,
One that caught my eye
And left me with butterflies.
It was all too sudden
I found myself looking forward to tomorrow,
Often searching around for where you'd be,
My days were filled with the idea of you
And somehow you light up my world
Even without knowing.
A hopeless romantic in love, would it be?
Yet I'm terrified of the idea of love
As if it's going to be stolen from me
You were so near yet far to reach
And I couldn't fathom this existing longing,
Perhaps I'd been too infatuated,
And at first, I wasn't even this affected
I hadn't figured out when it started
All of it was too sudden,
I couldn't look into your eyes
And I'm out of breath whenever you're near,
You've affected me unexpectedly
Found myself craving your presence more
I'm not much to look at,
All I can offer is all my love,
And poems I can dedicate to you.
My heart aches at the sight of you,
Knowing that there are no chances
For people who are cursed by Cupid himself,
Like me, really.
How I wish this would be another case of
"She fell first, he fell harder."
Yet only the lucky ones get the price,
And I'm never lucky.
You've always left me mesmerized,
A prize that could never be mine.
