"T minus two minutes--where's Gabrielle?"

A busy set-man shuffled through the loud crowd of people, each fixing a speaker or setting up some kind of microphone on the black stage. Screams and cheers could be heard from behind the red curtain, patiently waiting for her entrance. It was the biggest crowd she'd ever sung for, the largest venue she'd ever performed at but the noise from the crowd slowed to a  dull ringing in her ears as she heard her manager call out for one more minute until showtime.

Gabrielle shifted on her feet, already sore and aching from her heels. She wasn't nervous, no, this wasn't nerves. This was excitement. The sweat that beaded on her neck wasn't from anxiety, it was adrenaline and Gabrielle sucked in a breath, embracing every fear and worry, filling her veins with it until it electrocuted her.

"Alright, ten seconds, you ready Gabrielle?"

She smiled and pulled herself through the curtain.

"Thank you! I love you guys!" Gabrielle couldn't wipe the smile off her face as fans through roses, stuffed animals, even articles of clothing on stage for her. She could barely hear anything but she could feel herself laughing at the pure joy of it all.

"I think I'll keep this one for later!" She twirled a tiara in her fingers as she stood from her crouching position, blowing one last kiss towards the fans before gliding off the stage and into the comfortable backstage darkness.

"Incredible!" Daphne was by her side in moments. "That was absolutely exceptional, Gabrielle, you were perfect!"

Gabi laughed, wrapping an arm around her managers shoulder. "I still can't believe that happened. Kendrick Lamar performed here, Daphs! Kendrick fucking Lamar."

"Well, after this show I think you'd better get used to it." Daphne patted Gabi on her sweaty shoulder, not seeming to care that the pop star was practically soaked through her dress.

Daphne had been Gabrielle's manager for the past four years, but they'd known eachother much longer. While Gabi was growing up in northern Poland, Daphne was raised in London. The two (teenagers at the time) met on the same plane to the states, both of them searching for their dreams. Gabrielle was in desperate need of an agent, and Daphne needed her first client. The two shook hands right as the plane landed.

"Ugh, I'm exhausted. I think the adrenaline is already rubbing off." Gabrielle had to refrain from rubbing her eyes in hopes of not ruining her makeup, but she couldn't help the yawn slip from her mouth.

"I haven't scheduled your flight yet--I thought it might be a nice vacation?" Daphne scrolled through her phone, keeping pace with Gabrielle as they headed to the cabins. "I have some ideas planned to pass the time but just focus on resting tonight, celebrations tomorrow!

Gabrielle laughed, pecking Daphne on her cheek as the two split ways.

Gabrielle smiled and thanked her crew as she walked. She knew she should post on instagram, or check through her meetings schedule but she couldn't think about anything else right now. The biggest performance of her life and she had been perfect. The pride that swelled in her chest was only matched her the smiled that was plastered on her face.

"Thank you guys, great show today!" Gabrielle turned to face everyone. She doubted they could understand her clearly with the crowd still shouting and the bustle of the backstage, but she wanted them to hear her anyways. "Let's keep up the good work!"

The smile didn't leave her face until hours and hours later as she drifted off into sleep.
