Lando could hear her before he saw her. He had no idea who she was and why she was in his paddock, all he knew was that she had the prettiest voice he'd ever heard.

The second thing Lando noticed was her hair. Long, blonde and curled at the edges--he had no idea how women did that but it was stunning. He felt like a bit of a creep, standing on the opposite side of the room watching her from behind as she shook hands with mechanics and managers. She was wearing somewhat casual clothing--pants and a shirt, but she looked like luxury, he could tell. He wondered what she smelled like...Ew, Lando. What the fuck, why are you thinking about that, you have a race in thirty minutes.

"Ah, there he is--Lando! Come here buddy."

Of course Zak was calling him over. Where was Oscar when he needed him? Lando fixed his hair and rolled him the sleeves of his shirt, praying his hands weren't sweaty as he sauntered over to the girl. She turned around to face him and that's when Lando's breath really hitched.

She was stunning. There was no other way to say it. Lando had seen many beautiful women, even had the pleasure of taking some of them out, but this was different. She was...gorgeous. Her eyes looked grey from where Lando stood, and her lips were glossy. She was tan and shorter than him, not by a lot in the heels she was wearing but Lando felt a little bit better knowing he had some height on her. When her eyes fell on him he noticed the way they squinted as her lips were pulled into a smile.

"It's a pleasure." She stuck her manicured hand out. Lando hesitated. Shake her goddam hand, you idiot.

He took her hand in his, lightly squeezing. "The pleasure is all mine." The cold rings on her fingers sent a chill up his arm.

She smelled like exotic fruits and salt water, or maybe that was just in his head.

"You a big F1 fan?" He broke the silence, praying that his awkwardness would turn into charming banter sometime soon.

The girl laughed and shook her head. "Unfortunately not. This is the longest I've ever been exposed to the sport."

American. With hints of something else, Lando wasn't quite sure. But he saw the way she thought before she spoke, like she was translating the words in her head.

"There's always time to change that," he replied, scratching the back of his neck and trying his best to conceal his shaky voice with a cough.

She grinned back at him, looking him up and down before settling back on his eyes. Jesus Christ almighty.

"Lando has been with us for a few years now, he's practically family." Zak placed a hand on Lando's back but Lando kept his attention on the girl in front of him. How old was she? What was her name? Lando wanted--no, needed to know more.

"Really?" She smiled again, did she ever stop smiling? "You know, I've never ridden in a McLaren car before. Maybe I should give it a go."

Was she flirting with him? He couldn't tell. She had stared right into his eyes at the last part, breaking Lando into a sweat just by her sheer gaze. Who was this girl?

"You haven't lived until you sit in that passenger seat." Lando decided to be bold and sized her up, returning the favor and grinning as he glanced back up to her own eyes.

She seemed to recognize what he was doing as her once innocent smile turned into a more sultry grin. She shifted on her feet and subtly nudged the girl next to her, something Lando wouldn't have noticed if he wasn't watching this girl like a hawk. He still didn't know her name.

"Well, it's been such a pleasure meeting you, Zak," the girl said, placing a light hand on Zak's shoulder before turning her gaze to Lando. "And you too, Lando." What was happening to him? Just the thought of her touch was making him forget how to do basic bodily functions.

"Lovely meeting you as well..." Lando started, waiting for her to say her name but she didn't. Instead, she winked and hooked her arm with the woman next to her as they squeezed out of the paddock. That sneaky girl.

Lando couldn't stop himself from letting out a laugh--had he just been out-flirted? His reputation spoke heavily of his romantic adventures and he was very comfortable with women, but for some reason he couldn't keep it together with whoever that was.

He'd better get it together--he had a race in twenty minutes now and he couldn't be clouded with thoughts of some girl. Lando shook his head, tossing away any thought of her and slipped some headphones on, dialing in and readying himself. He would worry about this after the race.
