Lando could still smell her perfume on the linen hotel sheets when he woke up. Thankfully, he'd drunk just enough to remember last night, and the memories made his face heat up all over again. Eyes still closed, he inhaled and reached across the bed, only to find it...empty?

He leaned up, looking around the room. It was obvious she'd been here--messy bed, his belt was laying on the floor and clothes were tossed around the room--but where did Gabi go?

Lando grabbed his phone and typed Max's contact.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't the man of the hour."

"Good morning to you too, Max," Lando groaned, rubbing his eyes as he sat forward and tried to rush more blood into his head to wake up. He got a better look at his hotel room and questioned why he didn't just spend the night at Max's apartment instead of having to pack and clean everything up before tomorrow, seeing as how messy his hotel room had gotten in the span of twelve hours.

"So, how was it?"

Lando decided to play dumb. "How was what?"

"Don't play stupid, mate." Max knew him too well. "We all saw you two practically fucking on the dance floor....and making out by the bathrooms...and going into the Uber."

"Fuckin' hell." Lando groaned again. If Max saw that, then everyone saw that, which means he should definitely check his texts.

Max laughed over the phone. "So I'll ask you again, how was it? Good, right? I mean, look at her it's got to be good."

"Don't be weird, Fewtrell." Lando unlocked his phone and began going through his messages while Max blabbered about his own eventful evening.

"So where is the lovely gal?" Max caught Lando's attention again. "Did you kick her out yet?"

He flipped the covers off of himself and stood. "No, actually, she's already gone. I dunno when she even left but she's not here."

"Holy fuck, Lando got ditched?" Max died of laughter over the phone. "That's golden, mate, props to Gabi for putting you in your place."

Lando shook his head as he pulled sweatpants on and kicked around his clothes from the previous night. He still couldn't understand why she would leave, or when she left at all. He'd had a few drinks that night--enough to for him to make some questionable decisions but not enough for him to forget everything, so he remembered the night they spent together.

"For your information I wasn't going to kick her out." Lando placed his phone on the nightstand, grabbing a (probably) clean shirt out of his duffel and pulling it on. "Asshole of you to think I would."

"Come on mate, when was the last time you had a two-night stand?" Max presented a good point. "In fact, when was the last time you didn't hush a girl out of your room at eight in the morning?"

"I wasn't going to kick her out, Max." Lando shook his head again. "Somethings different after last night. I know that's weird to say but its true, I dunno what it is."

Max was quiet. "I mean...have you considered the fact that maybe you like the broad?"

"Of course I like her."

Max groaned. "No I mean like--fancy her. Like, like  her."

Lando fell silent. Did her like her? He hardly knew her, and he of all people could say without a doubt that one-night-stands hardly ever turn into real relationships. But maybe...no.

"No." Lando said, defiantly. "Nah, just forget about it."

"Alright, mate. Whatever you say. I'm coming by around one for lunch--we need to nurse these hangovers."

Lando hummed as he fell silent, spying a pair of black, strappy heels clumped in the corner of his hotel room.
