"I have one more show in France and then the world tour is over." Gabi munched on a french fry, sipping her coke.

Lando looked disappointed. "So no more shows?"

"Nope. I can finally relax. Maybe try and finish the new album."

The two of them had spent the morning walking through Hamburg, sneaking into shops and trying to make sure they weren't followed. She knew that it was dangerous to be out in public with him, especially in the daylight, but there hadn't been any issues yet. She didn't know what she would do if they were caught. The logical thing would be to deny and detach, but she found that being logical was very hard with Lando. When she was with him, all of her doubts and worries went out the window.

Lando had pulled her into a tiny restaurant—apparently one of his friends had recommended it—and had her get a table while he ordered food. Gabi had tried her best to disguise herself. She wore a long skirt and a tank top with one of Lilly's baseball hats to hide her face. Gabi hadn't packed for a date, so this was her closest attempt at looking presentable.

"How's your pasta?" Gabi was eyeing Lando's pesto ravioli like it was whispering her name.

Lando pushed his plate towards her, inviting her to try some. As she took a noodle, she couldn't help but stare at him. The button down he was wearing was the perfect size—tight around the arms, loose around the waist—and his sunglasses were resting on top of his messy curls. She wondered if he knew his effect on her.

"Take a picture." Lando smiled. "Might last longer."

She narrowed her eyes and pulled out her phone, much to his amusement and took a picture.

"Funny gal." He snatched her phone and she yelped reaching for it.

"Give that back right now Lando Norris!"

He just laughed as he held her phone out of her reach, taunting her with a shit-eating grin.

"Ooo, notes folder titled 'new album'. This must be interesting..."

"NO!" He couldn't see that note, no one could see that note, but especially not him. In the late hours of the night, Gabi had written lyrics after talking to him on the phone and hadn't looked over them since. Even she didn't know how bad the lyrics were going to be.

"'the boy is mine', interesting name Ms. Bosko." He laughed and Gabi's eyes widened even further. The song she wrote. About him.

She finally was able to grab her phone, nearly knocking over her coke in the process. "You keep your damn mouth shut or I will kill you."

"I didn't know I was having songs written about me." Lando puffed his chest. "Wow, huge ego boost."

"Who said it's about you?"

Lando narrowed his eyes, taking his free hand under the table and snaking it up her thigh, resting dangerously high.

"Careful, Norris. We're in public." She tried to keep her composure, masking her ragged breaths with sarcasm.

Lando opened his mouth to say something (probably some snarky remark about not caring about being public) when he was interrupted.

"Oh my god!"

Both of their heads snapped to the side as a teenage girl ran over to them. The ragged breathing soon turned to a complete stop: someone recognized them.

"Lando Norris!"

Thank fuck.

Gabi turned her head to face away from the fan, covering her exposed face with her extra hand while Lando quickly adjusted himself so he could stand as far away from her as possible in an attempt to keep her out of sight.

"Oh my God, I can't believe I'm meeting Lando fucking Norris, you're like, my favorite Formula One driver..." The fan droned on about Formula One while Lando laughed politely.

Please just take the picture and leave, please. Please. Please.

"Oh, I totally didn't mean to interrupt you..." The fan seemed to register Gabi's presence, but didn't seem to know who she was. "Could you say hi to my friend Miranda, please? She's a huge McLaren fan."

"Yeah, of course." He sounded anxious, but Gabi couldn't see him because she was basically pressed against the wall in an attempt to keep her identity unknown.

A few seconds later, Lando said goodbye and sat back down, replacing his hand on Gabi's leg. "Hey, she's gone now. You okay?"

She turned back to him, fixing her hat and nodded, trying desperately to mask how shaken she was. "Yeah, all good."

Lando nodded too and watched her curiously. "That was scary."

"Yeah." Gabi's breathing came back to her. "That was really close."

"Yeah."

Silence.

"Maybe we should go back to the hotel."

Lando's face dropped. "Okay. Are you sure?"

"Yeah. We're too recognizable." Gabi shook her head, glancing behind her back. She was going to spend the rest of her day frantically watching her back and checking through the paparazzi websites—she couldn't handle being out.

Lando nodded, still looking disappointed, and motioned to a waiter for the check. Part of Gabi felt bad, they'd had such a good day: shopping, eating, sneaking kisses whenever they were alone. But her image...it would be stupid to think a relationship with him wouldn't ruin it. As much as it hurt her to believe, she could never be with him unless she was willing to risk everything. And right now, she wasn't willing. At least, she thought she wasn't.

They didn't hold hands as they walked back to the hotel. They hardly said a word, just walked side by side and let their hands brush once in a while to make sure they were still there.

By the time they reached her hotel, Gabi was miserably lost in her own thoughts. Lando walked her into the lobby, but paused in front of the elevators, looking down at her with concern.

"Are we okay? I mean, nothings wrong...between us, right?" He scratched the back of his neck nervously. "If I did something, or said something—I'm sorry about the song, I didn't mean to invade your privacy or anything—"

"Lando." Gabi stopped him. "You didn't do anything, I'm just..freaked out. This—"She motioned between them. "—is dangerous. And that doesn't mean I don't want it--want you. I just..."

She sighed, running a hand through her hair at a loss for words. Lando seemed to understand though.

"Okay." He nodded. "I want you to know...I'm all in, you know? I...I like you. Not in a 'messing around' way, in a real way. I haven't felt like this in a while. That's so cringy, I know, but I really do want you to know that."

Gabi didn't know what to say. She knew she should say something, tell him how she feels or comfort him. But no words came out. Instead, she leaned forward, kissing his cheek. She felt him tense up at her touch, and he delicately placed a hand on her waist.

When she pulled back, she fought every instinct that told her to bring him upstairs. But when he looked at her with those eyes, darker now as he was filled with need, she realized that the instincts would win.
