A week passes.
After a brief celebration in the wake of their engagement, Wooyoung found himself at the cusp of happiness with every rise of the sun and set of the moon. There was not a single moment where he didn't feel complete, almost as if every single puzzle piece had finally been slotted together in one complete image. Everything felt to be bliss, the epitome of a happy ending after being harbored in such darkness for what felt to be a millenia. Though, this wasn't even remotely close to some sort of ending, but rather a new beginning, marked with a new chapter, doused and drizzled in all things that remained a synonym to the word peace.
Presently, Wooyoung was settled in the car, messing about with his new ring as a twirl of anxiety loomed in the pit of his stomach. Today, of all days, was the ending of the trial, which would bring a ruling to both his aunt and uncle's reign of terror. He hoped and he prayed that they would be found guilty to some degree, to finally put Wonsik behind bars so that he'd remain where he belonged.
San was next to him, on the phone with his own father as they discussed details for the press conference that would be held following the end of the trial. Wooyoung listened quietly, twisting and turning his ring against the skin of his finger gently as his head faced out of his own window, eyes drawn to the passing scenery that led to the fateful court house. Mr. Baek was driving, per usual, quiet and attentive as he had always been. Though, Wooyoung knew that Mr. Baek withheld his own opinions that came in response to the trial itself. He could sense the disappointment in his eyes, but Wooyoung knew that it was faced towards Wonsik rather than towards San or himself. Mr. Baek had been so faithful to Wonsik and his wife, serving them for many years as a dutiful driver that worked restless hours and would come when beckoned. But, now that he was here, learning the truth after so many years of being a devoted employee, Wooyoung could sense just how disgruntled he had truly been. He couldn't blame him though, and Wooyoung hoped that this trial would bring him some sort of peace, too.
Eventually, San hung up the phone with a brief sigh, putting the device away in the depth of his pocket before he reached over, wrapping his hand gently around Wooyoung's thigh.
"Everything's all set," he says, leaning his head back against the headrest. "The conference will finally put an end to everything with Sun-hee and Eun Media."
"One step closer," Wooyoung responds as he turns his head towards San, smiling when their eyes meet. "I'm really proud of you, Sannie. This isn't going to be easy, especially admitting to everything Sun-hee had done, but you're still powering through, and I cannot be any prouder of you."
