"Sunmi, I think it's about to rain!"

The sight of her garden is a sad one these days. September taking away all the beauty and colors, preparing everything for the upcoming winter. The lake hasn't been offering its best either, one of the reasons Vivi hasn't visited it in the past three weeks.

Arms crossed on her chest, Vivi gazes outside, shaking her head as Sunmi appears in the garden with a laundry basket. She still uses the outdoor clothsline to dry laundry, something Vivi doesn't understand. Especially with how unpredictable the weather is.

With a sigh, Vivi leaves her to it, is sure Sunmi won't need her glaring at her while she does her job. The amazing scent floating around the highest floor invites Vivi to follow it, guides her to the kitchen where Chef Kim is preparing something delicious for dinner. Vivi accompanies him, goes to watch him while he cooks. Has kept herself busy these pasy few weeks with his or Sunmi's company, thinks the time will pass faster if she doesn't just lie around in bed all day.

Elbows leaning on the kitchen island, she watches her skillful chef, tries to memorize what he does so if one day she has to cook food for herself or someone else, she knows what she'll do. Especially since the recipe he's using now is near and dear to her heart.

It takes her back to one day in May. How she took a bowl of dumpling soup downstairs and used it as a peace offering. And how it opened a door to something she didn't know the existence of.

Never did she think she'd feel the same kind of pain and longing that she did when her mother died. It actually feels the same, losing a loved one and not hearing from them, even when you know they're alive and well. Though just a few nights ago she slipped into a panic attack, thinking something bad has happened to him and she'll never know about it. Somehow she thought it's the only explanation to why he hasn't even texted her. Even though she has called and texted him a dozen of times.

In her thoughts and the smell of Chef Kim frying dumplings lingering around her sends a wave of nausea through her body. It comes out of the blue, like a rain cloud on a sunny day. Something that has been happening a lot for a few days now and is often so wonderfully followed by gag reflexes.

"Looks delicious." Vivi pushes a smile on her lips while trying to breathe just through her mouth as the smell of oil frying gets a bit too much, "I'm not actually feeling too well so could you... Put it aside when you're done and I'll just eat it later."

"Sure." he glances up at her from the frying pan as he continues cooking, "If you want me try different recipes or do smaller portions, just tell me."

He wouldn't budge if this was the only time of her showing disinterest towards his cooking. It's just that he found the scraps of yesterday's food in the trash too.
