"What I'm trying to say is, I can keep a secret, for as long as I like. I can take secrets to my grave." her tone lowers, their eye contact doesn't ease, "But I need you to promise me you'll do that too. Because if you do, we'll be okay. We'll be sa...

Chef Kim is amazing. Chef Kim is a savior. Chef Kim is an angel.
Having a bad day? Vivi asks for a veggie soup. Having a good day? Vivi asks for a delicious chicken pie. A rainy day? Vivi doesn't even have to ask, already receives a piece of chocolate cake after dinner.
This savior of hers arrives at lunch time, leaves and then comes back at dinner time. And if she doesn't see or hear him come through the door, she'll eventually smell he's here.
The tender scent of dumpling soup calls for Vivi, invites her into the kitchen.
Hands in her black pants' pocket, her steps are light. She greets Chef Kim as she parks behind the kitchen island and leans her elbows on it. Chef Kim isn't bothered by her presence. He often talks to her about his cookings whenever she joins him in the kitchen, teaches her how to make the best scrambled eggs, shows her what wine suits each food the best. You could call them friends but technically they're not. He just works for her.
"Smells amazing." Vivi tells him as she admired the bubbling stock, the dumplings next to the pot on a frying pan.
"They're tofu dumplings. Decided to try a new recipe." Chef Kim says while skillfully making the dumplings jump and dance on the pan.
"I'm sure they're delicious." Vivi comments, tiptoes to check the stock more closely, "You never fail so I know they are."
"M-m, don't speak too soon, young lady." he laughs, waves his finger at her.
Vivi grins, "If you tried it on your wife first, it cannot be bad."
Chef Kim agrees, mutters something about his wife's impeccable taste buds while carefully adding the dumplings to the stock.
Vivi counts the dumplings. 1... 2... 3...
There's at least twenty of them.
That should be enough.
Because, you know, she didn't come here to chat. She didn't come here to compliment Chef Kim's food even though she'd do that on a normal day too.
When she woke up this morning, she heard the rattling against the windowpanes and rainwater pipes. It affected her mood in an instant, even made her shut the drapes as she couldn't bare to look at the gloomy and grey sky. She stayed in bed, just like she'd done the past two days, until she heard Chef Kim's car arrive to the frontyard, Sunmi vacuuming the sitting room and saw her gardener taking care of the tulips next to the front door. She's aware these people continue with their work no matter the weather, no matter the circumstances. They don't budge about a little rain. They don't budge if they barely got any sleep last night. They continue living, no matter what.
