Darkness sits in the room comfortably, doesn't plan on leaving for the next five hours, ignores the tired set of eyes that can't do anything else but stay awake.
Rain taps the windows repeatedly, senses someone is awake, doesn't want them to be alone.
Jungkook stares into darkness, his gaze empty, listens to Vivi's breathing while she sleeps peacefully next to him. He's supposed to be sleeping too, should've just closed his eyes two hours ago when they went to bed but he couldn't. And now it's just him while Vivi has her back to him, quiet puffs heard from her every now and then.
See the problem isn't that Jungkook's not sleepy. He is. Would fall asleep in seconds if he just closed his eyes and forgot about everything going on inside his head. But it's easier said than done.
And he can't just forget.
What happened at the restaurant haunts his mind still, stays in the back of his head, knocks his consciousness every now and then and reminds him of how he forgot about everything he was supposed to do for Vivi's safety. Of course nothing happened - and what a relief it is - but it doesn't deny the fact that he had to do special measures not to lose his composure. And it's the worst he could possibly do.
Because he put himself first.
He put his emotions first in the fear of failing at his job.
And it scares him, more than anything, because so much is at stake right now. So much he could lose. Her being one of them.
He knows the growing bud inside of him has bloomed, he knows how much it affects him. Can feel it without even looking at her, without even having to think about her. And it's only been four days since she showed her blooming flower to him. There's no way out anymore. He doesn't want out but it makes him suffer.
How is he going to keep her safe if any threat that comes to her angers him so greatly he could lose his composure at any given moment?
Jungkook turns to Vivi, softly pulls the sheets more over her white top and shorts covered body so her bare arms don't get too cold in this air-conditioned room. He wants to kiss her shoulder, breathe in her hair that lies on her pillow, cuddle her, hug her, pull her closer. Everything. Because he cannot forget how distraught she was when they came back to the suite and didn't leave for the rest of the evening.
But as he goes to touch her even the slightest - even just her hair - he hesitates, a warning going off in his head suddenly.
He shouldn't be doing this, he shouldn't be reaching for her, touching her because it could all get worse. To the point of no return. And he could mess everything up in the worst way possible.
The warning spreads around, reaches his limbs, covers them with hesitation, even forces him to get up from this bed, grab his sheets and go to the living room.
