The next day, a very, very, very loud and annoying someone was jumping on my chest, squeaking and squealing in my face. “Lori…” I groan. “Get off… give me five minutes…” She pouted, her tail wagging happily.

“Brother, it’s time to go to school!” She giggled as she kept jumping on me like an excited dog wanting to go on a walk.

“Lori, I love you but I’m not letting you go to my school,” I told her and she froze.

“But…” She whimpered and laid back down.

“I’m sorry, love. But it’s just… well, not a good environment for you, okay?” I kissed her forehead.

“But.. I thought we agreed-”

“Lorelei Lee Pines, don’t argue with me. Okay?” She whimpered but nodded, rolling off me and flopping onto the bed.

“Then I suppose you should get to school…” She mumbled and got out of bed.

“Lori, c’mon… don’t be weird.” She just scoffed and got off the bed. I sighed and got out as well.

“I’ll be in my room if you need me,” she mumbled and walked out of my room to her room. I grabbed my school uniform and got changed, then walked to the bathroom. I opened up the drawer and took out my hairbrush.

I then set it down on the counter, putting my hands on the edges and sighing softly. I looked myself in the eyes, just thinking about something. I just stared at myself. My black hair knotted in some spots, but it stayed normal looking.

I snatched my hairbrush and ran it through my hair a few times, before I noticed Lorelei making noise in the kitchen. "Lorelei!" I yelled, "what are you doing?"
She responded in a tone that made me think she was doing something mischievous: "It's a surprise!" I sighed and continued buttoning my shirt. Did this shrink in the washing machine? I thought, since I noticed it being slightly tighter than before. After adjusting it, Lorelei called for me to come down, so I did.

I was impressed when I saw what was on the plate waiting for me on the table:Soft waffles that were covered in warm, creamy butter and soaked in syrup. I picked up my fork and took a bite, a smile appeared on my face that Lorelei noticed.

"I see you like my waffles." she said and her face was slightly flustered, "I tried my best to make them yummy.."

I gave her a grin while stuffing my face with the waffles, "It's the best breakfast ever!"

She was shocked at my opinion and hugged me while wagging her tail, "You are the best brother ever!" I swallowed the food before I hugged her back, and we held each other for a moment until finally letting go.
I looked at the clock and noticed I was probably gonna be late! I turned to Lorelei.

"I have to head to school now, I love you." She seemed upset but nodded her head and kissed my cheek,  I smiled and kissed her cheek back. I headed to the door and grabbed my bookbag, then turned back to see Lorelei waving "bye" to me, I waved back and then closed the door on my way out.
