In homeroom, I saw Aria talking to Ryan. I then sat next to her, not trying to eavesdrop but I did anyway.

“So, whose jersey are ya wearing for Jersey day next week?” Ryan asked with a smug look on his face. “Mine or that gay fre-”
“For the last time,” she said with a sigh,” Braedon is not a freak. And to answer your question. I’m wearing his. Now shoo.” She brushed him off, and he reluctantly did, with a huff. “Didn’t know Ryan was so stubborn…”

“Yeah, most people don't know he is, but he can be.” I looked over at her, before I realized I said it out loud. Again.

“Apparently, I can’t separate my thoughts from my mouth…” I mumbled, which made Aria snicker.

“It’s alright, newbie. At least you’re not as bad as Braedon.”

“Braedon isn’t bad!” She chuckled softly.

“You’re right, he’s not.” I looked over at her, confused. “He just, well… doesn't exactly have a filter, meaning he just speaks his mind. And when he gets mad, and I mean really mad, that boy says every curse word in existence. Including curse words in other languages, which is usually his favorite way of cussing people out,” she said with a shrug.

“Speaking of Braedon, he has a jersey?” I asked, and Aria nodded.

“Well, it’s his team’s jersey. They have extras so me and some of my girlfriends wear them to support their team because we know most of Braedon’s teammates. Pretty sure most of my girlfriends are dating a bunch of the teammates.” Just then, the bell rang and the teacher walked in.

“Good morning, class!”

“Good morning,” the class said in a monotone voice.

“Today we will be…” blah blah blah.
I know I’ve zoned out. I’ve been doing it for a while now, ever since, well… ever since Mika started hurting dad… his screams and cries still ring in my head… It happened for around 10 years.

Now that I think about it, it’s May 18, 2018, right? Yeah, I think so… which means it’s almost exactly 10 years. Y’know, surprisingly, I was mainly raised by Mika. Before she became an addict, she was amazing… so kind, caring and thoughtful. Now she’s cruel, heartless and abusive.
I sighed and kept thinking. The funniest thing is that Lorelei still loves Mika. Lorelei was young when it first started, around 5. Luckily, her brain and a little manipulation (I know it sounds wrong but I need her to not know what Mika did) made Lorelei forget what Mika did to our father. Now (and thankfully), she only has good memories of Mika. Also, I think Mika has another family…

Just then, the bell rang and the teacher dismissed us. Aria and I walked through the halls and it was different. Instead of the usual boos and glares, people were waving and smiling at Aria.

It was nice, really. Not having to glare at everyone who talked bad about Braedon earned a bad reputation for myself. Let me explain. Basically, I walk through the halls with Braedon, and people laugh, snicker, whisper to themselves and others, and mere about Braedon. I glare at them to make them stop. Then (because most of them are popular), word gets around and boom! Most people hate me.

I sighed under my breath as we met up with Braedon, who hugged us both. It’s worth it to have a bad reputation if the reason is Braedon. Yes, I know it may be cheesy, but it’s true. And I love him.
