SCENE: COBRA'S ROOM
(Amber holds the open wound with a gauze and tries to hold pressure but Cobra is screaming and squirming)
Amber: Stop! Stop! You need to stop moving!
(Cobra stops moving and screaming as Amber holds pressure until the bleeding stops)
Amber: Okay the bleeding stopped, thank God.
Cobra: (Scared) Holy crap, my hernia popped...like a pimple. I thought that ginger was just trying to scare me into this surgery.
Amber: (Still holding pressure) Me too.
(Amber looks around the room and spots Cobra's phone on the bed table to his right)
Amber: Cobra, can you reach for your phone without moving too much? Excessive movement could cause more bleeding and we don't have blood on standby so...
(Cobra tries to move as little as he can to reach his phone but just as he reaches the table his wound starts bleeding)
Amber: No! No! Put it back! Okay, okay let me think...
(Amber tries thinking of another and then spots her phone on her left coat pocket near Cobra's hand)
Amber: Can you reach for my phone? It's in my left coat pocket, grab it slowly.
(Cobra manages to grab her phone without complication and raises it slightly for her to see)
Amber: Okay, go to contacts and call Alex. (Calls Alex)
Voice: We're sorry you have dialed a number which cannot be reached-
Amber: Damn it! Okay let me think, let me think. The phones are down so I can't call anyone in this hospital, what number always goes through no matter what?
Cobra: 911?
Amber: (Awestruck) You are a genius call 911 and put it on speaker.
(Cobra calls 911, the line immediately answers)
Voice: 911, what is your emergency?
Amber: Hi my name is Dr. Amber Karev, I'm a surgical intern at Grey Sloan Memorial. I have a patient who's bleeding sporadically, and the phones are down.
Voice: Have you tried getting a doctor in person?
Amber: I can't I'm holding pressure on this wound and the slightest movement will make this guy bleed out. I need you to contact the ER tell them that it's urgent to get Dr. Owen Hunt and tell him that Cobra's hernia popped. Oh! And tell him that it's a code blue, please.
Voice: Right away ma'am.
Amber: Thank you.
(The operator hangs up)
Cobra: Code blue? That means that I'm dead or that I'm dying, am I dying?
Amber: No! I just said that to put a rush on it. Nobody is dying today, Cobra.
CUT TO THE PIT
(Owen and April manage the ER as they evacuate patients in the hot environment, Bailey approaches them)
Owen: Chief? We already transferred six patients, but we have eight ICU patients who are stable enough to move.
April: And the blood banks are still closed, so were waiting on emergency shipments from other are hospitals.
Bailey: Good, great. You are handling your situation. Avery and I are...handling our situation.
April: He called you from the medevac chopper?
