A MONTH LATER
SCENE: JO AND ALEXS LOFT
(Amber finishes the last of her oatmeal while Jo blow dries her hair. Amber goes through the mail and finds Jo's letter from Mass Gen)
Jo: Hey did we get anything from the mail?
(Amber hides the letter from Jo to not distract her from her wedding day)
Amber: Um no nothing important just bills. You know bills that'll be settled after the wedding so go back and dry up that mess.
Jo: Amber what's behind your back?
Amber: What? Nothing why? Stop making a big deal out of nothing and get ready for your big day.
Jo: (Intimidating) Amber Stevie Karev...
Amber: (Sighs) You know I hate my middle name. Fine, it's from Mass Gen.
(Amber shows the letter to Jo who goes still from shock)
Jo: Oh god. This is it their response that could alter my entire medical career forever. I wish they picked a better day to send it.
Amber: Right! Look you don't have to open it until your honeymoon. If its good news then it'll be a post wedding present.
Jo: And if its bad news?
Amber: Then you can drown your sorrows with some pina coladas by the L.A. beach while your husband comforts you on your honeymoon. Either way sounds good.
Jo: (Inhales and exhales) I want to open it now. Right now.
Amber: Are you sure?
Jo: Yes, it's just gonna drive me crazy during the wedding when I should be focused on marrying the love of my life. Okay here it goes.
(Jo quickly opens the letter and reads its contents)
Amber: Well?
Jo: (Normal tone) I got in. I got Mass Gen.
Amber: (Laughs) Oh my God! You got the fellowship! Why aren't you more pumped!?
Jo: Because I am in utter and complete shock! (Smiles) I got freaking Harvard!
Amber: I know! I have never hated you until this very moment! You got Harvard!
(Jo and Amber scream in joy)
Jo: Oh my god! I have to tell Alex.
Amber: You can tell him at the reception so get ready girl.
Jo: No way! This is something I have to tell him now while my joy is still fresh. I have to see him.
Amber: No! It's your wedding day you are not supposed to see each other until the actual wedding otherwise it's a thousand-year bad luck.
Jo: Alex and I don't believe in that crap and I'm surprised you believe in it too.
Amber: Everyone with some hope of making their marriage work beyond the wedding believes in it and my brother does not need another disaster marriage under his belt. Now go to the bathroom and get ready. Maid of honor and future sister orders. I am going to take a quick shower I expect you to still be here and ready when I come out, got it?
Jo: Girl scout's honor.
Amber: Good girl.
(Amber hops into the shower for ten minutes before exiting and seeing Jo gone along with her car keys)
Amber: Damn it!
(Amber quickly puts her clothes on and grabs her car keys)
