Chapter 11: Imagine Me and You

SCENE: MAYA'S APARTMENT

(Amber wakes up to find herself naked in Maya's bed with Maya spooning her from behind. Amber looks at the clock and realizes she needs to go to work. She softly extricates Maya's arm and quietly rolls out of bed only to fall and land on her butt. Amber looks up and sees Maya rolling over still asleep, she gets up and exits the bedroom. Amber quietly puts her clothes on and leaves the apartment.)

TWO HOURS LATER AT THE PICU

(Jo approaches Alex who fills out a chart)

Jo: Hey, is Amber still around?

Alex: No, I sent her home last night. Wasn't she with you?

Jo: (Worried) No, I didn't see her at all I thought she was with you.

Alex: (Checks his phone) Nothing from her what about you?

Jo: No. Where do you think she is? She was really upset yesterday I can only imagine what she would do to take the edge off. Should we call the cops?

Alex: Let's just calm down, okay. She could be staying over at a friend's house or something, we don't call the cops unless- there she is!

(Amber enters the PICU looking disheveled)

Amber: Sorry I'm late. I forgot to set my alarm. Any updates from UNOS?

Alex: Um no nothing.

Jo: Where were you?! I didn't see you at home, and you weren't at the hospital I almost called the cops.

Amber: Relax, I'm here. I just went to Joe's bar and...went for a walk.

Alex: You went for a walk for 12 hours?

Jo: (Smiling) She hooked up! You had a one-night stand with someone from the bar.

Amber: I did not have a one stand...I had an amazing one night stand. (Giggles)

Alex: (Disgusted) Great just the way I wanted to start my morning; hearing about my baby sister's sex life. I'm gonna walk away now before I throw up, you two do you two.

(Alex leaves Jo and Amber to gossip)

Jo: Tell me about him! Was he cute?

Amber: ...he was cute and blonde. I didn't get much out of him before we you know. God, there is nothing to kill a crappy day than a hot, steamy, toe curling one night stand.

Jo: Are you gonna see him again?

Amber: If I did then it would diminish the meaning of a one-night stand. I got my anger out of my system and am now swimming in endorphins and nothing can upset me so don't ruin it, Jo.

Jo: (Chuckles) Got it.

(Both of their phone's ding)

Jo: Whoa, trauma in the pit all hands-on deck.

LATER AT THE PIT

(Jo and Amber enter the pit to find it filled with people and fire fighters)

Jo: (To Owen) What happened?

Owen: An apartment complex caught fire, sprinklers were out so the firefighters had to douse it themselves and get the people out one by one. Wilson supervise the interns in the pit and She-Karev take bed 5 there's a firefighter with a nasty leg wound. She was injured carrying a teenager out of a building her leg got caught in the debris.

Amber: Got it.

(Amber goes to bed 5 and is shocked by who is on it)

Amber: Maya?
