I sent this text and went back and stood in front of my closet, waiting for his response. I skimmed through the side of my closet that housed my dresses, the wooden hangers clanging together lightly beneath my fingers. Meanwhile, Boo was winding through my legs, purring. I reached down to scratch her ears, sighing to myself. While I thought it was incredibly sweet that Hope wanted to surprise me, what he didn't seem to realize was I needed a little more information about where he was taking me to figure out what I should wear.

When I had told him this right before I'd left the hotel, he had promised he would help me if I texted him. Neither of us had wanted to say goodbye, even for a couple of hours, since this was our last day together before he left, but in the end we'd decided it was the easiest way. He had all of his clothes and things at his hotel, and I had mine here at my apartment. So reluctantly, he'd kissed me goodbye at the car, giving me a wistful look, and instructed his driver, Joon-ho, to take me back to my apartment.

I sighed, smiling. Him and his surprises.

Usually, I wouldn't trust the man I was dating with this sort of thing. There are just a lot of things about the expectations of women's dress code that guys don't usually get, because, well, to be frank, the bar is set a lot lower for men than women in general in our society. But I'd seen enough of Hope's style at this point to feel fairly confident that he would be able to understand these sorts of small details and help me pick an appropriate dress. He'd probably be even better at picking out one than I would, I mused. I felt my phone buzz and looked down to see Hope's answer.
