"We should go back to the King," Rhaena whispers to her brother who sits across from her in their chambers at Storm's End in High Valyrian.
Aemond looks at her surprised as he lowers his book to look at his twin who looks back at him with wide eyes.
"Sister?"
"We should not be here. We are dragons not Stags, we should be with our family." Rhaena whispers urgently with a glance at the doors where two Baratheon guards stood guarding them.
"How would we leave?" Aemond whispers back as the guards look at each other nervous about the language the two Targaryens are speaking in.
"At night," Rhaena says quickly "We do not belong here with the snakes and stags."
"'Snakes'?"
"The Hightowers, they are not to be trusted. Mother is blind to their true nature but we are not. We cannot be here."
"We would not be welcome back," Aemond whispers with a glance to the guards who are getting shifty as they look at each other their hands tightening around the pummels of their swords.
"Father said we would be welcome back indefinitely."
"Is this your wish?" Aemond asks with another glance at the guards as he rests his eyes on his sister who nods with a smile on her face "Very well. We go tonight when the moon is at its highest."
Rhaena beams at her brother who nods back to her as they return to their previous occupations of reading and drawing across from each other and guards relax at the sound of silence.
Rhaena and Aemond tip toed out of Storm's End with two cloth bag clutched tightly to their chests as they raced towards the stables where their horses were waiting.
In no time they had them saddled and where leading them out into the courtyard. Getting passed the guards would be hard but they had drugged the spiced wine they had given them and if the Gods' were good they would be asleep at their posts.
The snoring they heard confirmed the Gods were on their side as they trotted past the gates which creaked as it was opened and the two Targaryens were sure the guards would wake but they did not.
As soon as they were free of the courtyard they mounted their horses and galloped them across the grass too nervous to use the stoned path incase the hooves on the stones would wake somebody.
Aemond and Rhaena stood in silence covered in dust and dirt they had collected from the roads, they had not bee allowed change before they were taken to their father who was at that moment staring at them in the Small Council room with their siblings behind him as they glance at each other nervously as if he had never seen them before.
Suddenly the tension in the room is broken as Daemon smiles widely as he steps forward with his eldest children quickly joining his pace as they walk over to Aemond and Rhaena who smile brightly as they are enveloped in a large huge.
"We welcome you back with open arms." Daemon whispers to his youngest children who smile back at him with relief in their eyes as they clutched at him tightly.
