The only light that is visible through the drapes in the room obviously had to be shining right on my eyes. I try and block out the light by putting the covers over my head but when I'm awake I'm awake.
I groan but decide to sit up from the bed. I peer beside me to see Draven still fast asleep. I then remember that Evelyn was also suppose to be here too. Where had she gone? I didn't even feel her get up.
I stand up and stretch before retying my hair up to excuse it from the mess it was. She was shaken up obvious from the night so I should go see how she is this morning.
I look one last time at Draven. Hes most likely awake but I'll still leave him alone maybe he can fall back asleep for a bit longer. My body feels like it's covered in bruises and I don't even want to look to see if there is any. I silently close the door behind me.
I tip toe to her room as to not make the floor boards creak. My hand hovers over the handle when I hear her speaking. "This is what's right. I know that now. Just a little longer"
I smile as she talks to herself. I twist on the handle and go in. "Evelyn should I be concerned that you're talking to yourself?" I joke and her shocked face has me wondering whether she understood it or not.
She just stares at me and I'm now wishing I left her be. She fumbles about as she makes the bed. "Oh Vera you made me jump don't be a creep and stand outside my door at least announce yourself by a simple knock" she fusses
"Oh sister there's no need. It's not like I haven't seen you naked. We use to bath together remember." I laugh as I ruffle her hair as she pushes my hands away annoyed by the action.
"Oh yeah I remember you use to put soap in my eyes" she stops fiddling about to fix her hair and sits right near the end of the bed with her legs crossed. She looks like there's something irritating her where she's sat but I think she's making room for me to sit.
"Woah I only put soap in your eyes so that you'd stop making the entire bathroom a personal swimming pool" we both laugh, it's true she used to non stop splash me and I warned her to stop every time.
"Yeah well dad would always tell you off so I got my revenge" I look up at her as I didn't think she'd know that. Yeah we'd both be shouted at for making a mess but he'd always take me to my room and tell me not to come out until I apologised to Evelyn. She was so young how did she remember that
"Then you would wonder why I didn't want to play with you" she smiles and it has me thinking. Maybe it was his plan all along. To separate the two of us. He would tell me off so that id distance myself from Evelyn so that I wouldn't have to stay in my room again. The act of punishment and reinforced behaviour.
"Let's be honest that was our whole childhood this time it's just same song different verse" I hear a creak at the foot of the rooms door to find Draven. I smile up at him which he returns with a nod. I'm glad she seems much chirpier.
Evelyn seems to have lost interest in my presence as she stares out the window. "You didn't wake me." his grumpy tone makes me sit a little straighter. I get up and push him out the door way.
"I didn't think I had to." he walks back into the room and I see everything all packed and ready to go and surprisingly the bed has been made. A smile tugs at my lips as he grabs his things.
"She didn't think she had to" he mumbles as he exits and I follow him like a lost puppy. I see my sister scowl at him as she rushes down the stairs. They are both so weird.
