I'm finding it hard to believe that we're stuck in this predicament where neither direction looks promising. These people stand tall as they take aim at us warning us not to come any closer."Any ideas?" I ask Draven as my fathers men creep up behind us and our only way forward isn't looking friendly either. He seems to be trying to figure a way out but frankly I don't see one.
"Tell your people to stand down." the one at the front yells at us. Their faces are covered so I don't even know what type of people they are. Can't read their expressions.
"Didn't know you owned the area?" Draven grits out annoyed that they couldn't even pick up on the obvious situation we are currently in. Our people? Did it look like we came running this way because we wanted to?
My fathers men come to a halt as the new people train their guns on them. Great a stand off just what we need right now. My father emerges limping clutching his side. "There you are I was starting to think you were running away before paying your debt." my father says clearly out of breath.
"Drop your weapons! All of you!" The man shouts and it's like my father only notices him now. He waves them off not breaking eye contact with me. They're outnumbered but again I don't know the skill of the new comers.
Draven pulls me out of eyesight and to the side so that my father and the new person can talk. "You must be new around here because giving out orders like that well it's practically suicide" my father laughs his men already finger tigger happy.
"I'll tell you what's suicide a group of people running onto government grounds armed. So I shall not ask again." my father smirks at them clearly not caring what they're asking for. My sister seems curious as to who they are.
"My apologies I didn't realise there was such a thing left but we won't be dropping our weapons. We'll gladly head back the way we came. It seems crowded." my father knows when it's not worth the loss of men and he can tell it won't work out on his side.
He'd rather them underestimate him and then he'd come back prepared. Then there's no stopping him. I can't let them think that we're on their side he could ruin our chance of escaping.
"Then what is keeping you?" They answer as he hasn't ushered his people to retreat. He chuckles as he signals for his men to fall back slightly. I look at the new people and what they're wearing and how they're holding themselves.
They're clean, unharmed, armed and ready to kill. There's only one thing that comes to mind that allows me to believe that we can be saved. "Are they the safe haven?" I murmur under my breath thinking only Draven would hear.
"What did you just say little girl?" My eyes light up as I look at them. I don't even think of the consequences as I walk towards them. They all are on edge probably seen what's happened to humanity as the time went by.
"The transmission for a safe location. Do you know of it?" I know I'm being optimistic but there's no way it's not them. We were close and we have ran towards the direction it was in. If it's not them then I could have screwed us over
"That's incorrect information now please turn around and leave." my lungs clench shut. Well just great isn't that what I want to hear. Where else would these people come from. Government grounds yet they don't want to offer help.
"Come now Vera let's not take up anymore of their time. We've wasted enough time already." my father taunts me. Draven stands next to me as he clenches onto my hand. He's got to have figured out a way to get out of this.
