When the lady first said the procedure was going to take hours I was wondering what that could possibly mean. Yet as it drags onto the third hour and the final man is still finishing up I understand what she meant.Majority of the people had green string whilst one man and women got black, 3 men got yellow and 2 got red. I was the only one with blue. Evelyn's eyes wandered to my blue string once she had finished and she seemed concerned but I believe she's just worried what dad would get.
"Ask for a new one" Draven says for the millionth time. After I explained that Ezekiel was going to be following me until they decided otherwise he was pissed. I don't know what extent to which he'll have to follow me but Draven seemed annoyed that the person following me was a guy.
The door to the building opens and my father walks out. He looks weird now. I mean you're use to everyone looking muddy and bloody so now he's not it's reminding me of the past. His nub is bare with a bandage as he's obviously not allowed the weapon he attached to it.
My eyes drop down to his string and I was ready to protest. How did he get green! Him of all people not an ounce of concern! This system is a joke. He walks over to his people and grabs Evelyn's wrist to check her string.
"Alright everyone listen up!" The lady calls and everyone that was sat down got up and moved closer to her. I'm hoping this finishes soon as I'm really tired and not to mention the burning hunger pains in my stomach.
"Depending on your string assigned you'll fall into groups. Green here, yellow and red there, black here oh and blue by me" she says like she even herself didn't expect to have a blue
Everyone sluggishly moves to where she told them to. She told me to go by her but I just stood next to Draven with the greens and of course with Ezekiel breathing down my neck. All the other soliders had left bar a small amount of them. How humiliating.
"Greens you'll follow Corporal Z to the dining Hall. Yellow and red will be escorted to the gates, Black shall remain at this building any questions?" She asks
It was a Red that put their hand up "They didn't explain what red was it said KOS but what does that mean?" A middle aged man asks. He was pale and sweating and didn't have a bag like the rest of us which didn't give me a good sign
"No need to worry Sir once we've reached the gates we'll explain everything to you" her voice sounds like she's trying to reassure him but I can see through it she just doesn't want to cause panic
"How long does quarantine last?" A small girl asks as she stands by the only other guy who got a black string. I feel left out as she didn't even mention my colour at all.
"Your quarantine will last 72 hours and after those hours are up you'll be given a new string" the little girl shys away after receiving her answer. It seemed the women wasn't in the mood to answer anymore questions.
"Let's get going we're already behind schedule" she says and the remaining soldiers got to their station and ushered them away. I don't have high hopes for the yellow and reds futures.
"Let's go N2" I only notice the group leaving when Ezekiel calls me. Oh so he's corporal Z so unoriginal. I trudge along as he leads the way.
"Do you think anyone would notice if he went missing?" I wrap my arm around Dravens waist as he speaks to me. I let out a laugh which Ezekiel turns back to see who was laughing as everyone was in quiet chatter.
"Something tells me yes and it might be the fact he's in charge of us right now" it's definitely going to be different having someone around all the time but I guess it's not terrible since my fathers here so I don't actually want to be alone.
